Dear Mam & Dad,
Sorry I have not written for the last few days but out of the last week I have only been on our station for two days. They were Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
For two days before Christmas I was up at a station near Edinborough [sic] and we did not think we would get back here for Christmas but we managed it O.K. While we were up there we spent a night in Edinborough [sic] and had quite

a good time and as we were in battle dress every-one wanted to know how many ops we had done and we had some good offers for our flying boots.
On Boxing Day we were flying but we landed at another aerodrome south of here and we have only just got back here.
Thanks for the bag and the tarts etc. Most of them were broken in transit but the lads ate them alright and Johny [sic] and I have just finished them.
We had a really good Christmas. The sergeants were allowed in our mess and we

in theirs and there was as much to drink as you could hope for. On Christmas Eve Johnny and I were in Grimsby and quite a lot whisky was partaken of and Johnny said he would kiss all the women he met from the pub to the bus stop, that was O.K. until he met a woman who had her husband with her and then we had a real time although I got away without a scratch and I managed to get the bus.
Christmas Day evening we spent in the sergeants mess and had a really good time with the boys and the W.A.A.F.s
[page break]
Tonight we have been invited to the WAAFs party in their mess so we are expecting quite a [sic] evening.
I guess thats all for now hoping you had a good Christmas and all the best in the New Year. My leave will be around pretty soon.
Remember me to all
Your loving son
Lewis
