Dear Mam & Dad,

As you will see from the paper heading I am staying at the Saskatchewan Hotel, Regina. I am here on four days leave but the reason I came here was to see Stanley Eccleston. He wrote to me two days ago telling me he was stationed at 15 E.F.T.S. Regina, so I came down here to get all the news from home.

Yesterday when I arrived here I went straight up to the station and saw his efforts in a Tiger Moth. He has only got a couple of hours flying in over here but I guess he will make out O.K. He told me he saw Hats at Manchester before he left, already for his trip so when I get back to Paulson I am expecting a letter from him. Echo has sure grown since I left home and he is bigger than I am.

He gave me all the new about, Fred Belch, Jim Richardson, Eric & Stan Rouse and how Norman Hazeldine is now running the army. I gather too that Les Platts is with the 1st Army in Tunisia. From all this it appears our Cyril is the only one left at home. I hope he is still at home when I come on leave.

Stan told me Sheffield has altered quite a bit since I left and he told me to learn English before I go home. His voice sounded real Yorkshire to me and he said I had a Canadian accent although I can’t see it.

I came down here by bus and it took me twelve hours riding across the prairies and I was surprised to see how big Regina is: its almost as big as Winnipeg.

Every thing at Paulson is much this [sic] same only the weather is now getting warmer and we are working a little bit harder. I guess that is about all for now but I will write when get back to Paulson. Tell Mrs Eccleston Stanley looks fine and thinks Canada is OK, (wait until he’s been here a while). Luckily he is on a good station and near a fair sized town so he has nothing to grumble about.

Remember me to all,

Your loving son,

Lewis
