Dear Mam & Dad,

My leave is now over but I am on my usual forty eight. I did not go anywhere as the weather is pretty bad. Its not raining or snowing but the sun is shining and melting all the snow; quite a lot of the fields around here are flooded and its quite messy walking around.

Yesterday I received your airgraph and one from Fred. I was glad to hear everyone is O.K. and that my dad is back at work.

I understand from Fred that he is a Wireless Mechanic and that he may be going abroad. When he wrote he was at home on leave so I guess he will have been down to see you.

I do not think I told you, but since the R.A.F. came to this station we have won two “Efficiency Pennants” in a row and we are expecting to get another one for this quarter, but I do not think they will win any more as all the R.A.F. will have left by the end of June. (I hope)

Quite a number of new pilots have come on to the station recently so I guess we shall be leaving pretty soon but we have not heard definitively yet.

Knox is still around and he is never happy except when he is telling the Canadians what he thinks of Canada and what he would do if he lived here and I must say in most cases I agree with him. We have another New Zealander with us now, a pilot, his name is Hollaway and he comes, like Knox, from Aukland so you can imagine what it is like when they get together.

Hollaway was trained at Brandon and he is in our flight so he follows me on the schedual. [sic] Yesterday he and I went for a walk down to the lake. We got there O.K. but we got wet through coming back so that gave Hollaway [deleted] to [/deleted] a chance to curse the Canadian weather.

I guess thats about all; I hope our Sidney gets on in the exams O.K. and tell Hats I have written to him so he should have at least one letter recently.

[deleted] Remb [/deleted] Remember me to all, I’ll be seeing you soon.

Your loving son

Lewis

P.S. Many happy returns to my dad and Sidney.
