Dear Mam & Dad,

I guess there is not much to say in this letter except I have received three letters from you in [deleted] th [/deleted] two days which is very good. The two I got today were dated May 26th & June the 7th and were ordinary mail but the one I received yesterday came airmail and gave the siezes [sic] of our Sidneys [sic] clothes but I’ll [deleted] ge [/deleted] have to save them [inserted] the sizes [/inserted] now until I get to know I am coming home but I do not think that will be for quite a time yet.

I was very pleased to hear our Sidney had passed for High Storres [sic] – nice work. Tell him to be in the “Norman” house. He must be very clever for his age.

On the tenth of July I got a cable from the circle so I am writting [sic] a letter to thank them for it. I thought the circle had probably been disbanded but I was very pleased to see that it is still functioning.

Last week I went solo on Fairey Battles which are the biggest plane I have ever flown and weigh six and a half tons and have a Merlin engine like a

Spitfire. They are nice planes and I enjoy flying them. By the way tell Sidney we have now got some Lysanders at our aerodrome and I shall soon be flying them too.

Last Wednesday, Greene (Sgt Pt) and I went down to Clear Lake, a summer resort in Riding Mountain National Park, for 48 hours leave, it was very hot and we went swimming in the lake and I am not suffering from a sore back. We did have a good time though.

Yesterday I went and saw the proofs of the photographs I had taken, they were very good so I shall send you one when I receive them.

I was glad to hear the allotment was coming on well I did not think my dad was a keen gardener I thought [deleted] it [/deleted] he was more interested in the fowls, rabbits etc.

I think thats about all for now, remember me to all at 69, 52 & 6.

Your loving son,

Lewis,

P.S. Have you heard from Chicago yet?

P.P.S. I received a letter from Aunt Clara today.
