Dear Mam & Dad,
I received your letter yesterday say you had got my cable. I also got the letter from Aunt Bet so I shall have to reply to that too.
Since we came to this station we have not done much flying at all. I have only got ten hours in in over a week but I guess we will start this coming week. Up to now we have not done anything really only when we wanted to which is not very often.
We get up when we feel like it, fly when we feel like it and come and go from the station when [deleted] I [/deleted] we like but

I guess they will soon find us something to do.
I wrote to you from Chicago where we spent our leave; have you received that letter yet. I think I told you in the letter that a posh woman we met was writting [sic] to you telling you how fit I was etc. well today I got a letter from her niece whose says she too has written [sic] to you sending you a photograph of me. Don’t ask me why because I do not know but she’s not a bad kid. (She goes to college).
You asked me about the stockings & the photos well I have sent you two lots but if I can get a large envelope I’ll send you two postcard siezes [sic] of me but I have not got wings on either of them. The snap from Chicago will have wings and

stripes on if it is like the one I have got. As for the stockings I will try and pluck up eneogh [sic] courage to go & buy them and send them on.
I think it is your birthday to morrow so I send you all my best wishes mother and all my love even if it is a little late.
Yesterday I also got a [sic] eight page letter from Hats telling me all about his broken foot and the A.T.C and he also sent me Fred’s address so I shall have to write to him. I have replied to Hats letter.
I guess thats all for now but I wish I was back in England.
Your loving son
Lewis
P.S. No I do not think there is anything you can send me; stuff is dear here but not scarce.
P.P.S. I have to pay [underlined] $16 [/inderlined] a [underlined] month [/underlined] [underlined] INCOME TAX. [/underlined] I think I am paying for the war now.

Harry Rogers got his “wings” at the end of June and all their course have to stay in Canada as instructors. It looks like a job for the duration.
Find enclosed also the wing I had presented on “Wing” Parade
