Description

RAF Castle Donington was a Bomber Command training station located in Leicestershire, 6 miles (10 kms) north-west of Loughborough.

It was opened in 1943 as a satellite station for RAF Wymeswold and was used by 28 Operational Training Unit (OTU) flying Wellingtons. 28 OTU was disbanded in October 1944 and the station transferred to Transport Command. The site is now East Midlands Airport.
