Description

RAF Gamston was a Bomber Command training station located in Nottinghamshire, 3 miles (5 kms) south of Retford.

It opened in December 1942, initially in Training Command using Oxfords. In May 1943 the station transferred to Bomber Command and was used by 82 Operational Training Unit with Wellingtons. It was renumbered 86 Operational Training Unit in June 1944 prior to disbanding in November 1944 when the station transferred to 7 Group. 30 Operational Training Unit, also with Wellingtons, and 3 Aircrew School used the station until May 1945.
