Description

RAF Wickenby was a Bomber Command station in Lincolnshire, 10 miles (16 kms) north-east of Lincoln.

The station opened September 1942 as part of 1 Group with the arrival of 12 Squadron equipped with Wellingtons, converting to Lancasters three months later. 626 Squadron with Lancasters was formed at the station in November 1943 and both squadrons remained at RAF Wickenby until the end of the war.
