Dear Lewis,

It is over a fortnight since we heard from you we have only had the letter to say you had arrive [sic] back alright, you mention in your letter you was sending some laundry but I have not received any have you got the parcel I sent after you went back. I have written twice so we do hope you are OK do write if only a few lines Dad said if there’s no letter this morning you

had better write in case the other’s had got lost, he thought you might have been walking in so did we all

Betty Stevenson came over last week to see about the byke [sic]. I am expecting Miss Stevenson over tonight Harold as [sic] left Harrogate, but I expect you will have heard from him.

Renee as [sic] started work again yesterday Gertrude and she have been to Morecambe for the week. came back Saturday night

When do you expect your leave Auntie Bet and family (not Uncle Charlie he is having this week off) are going to Skegness the

first week September, Sidney and I are going too if possible, its a bit late but it may be nice weather altho [sic] we have had two real grand week [sic] just now. The children dont start school while the 12th Sept.

The tomatoes are coming on a treat in the greenhouse but we havent any ripe yet Sidney and I had a few hours down at the garden weeding yesterday and we made a good job of it ([underlined] said father [/underlined]) he as [sic] promised Sidney 2 shills for his share of the work he made two trips to the shop for something to eat and one to the tap for something to

drink whilst we were there.

I saw Mrs Hasledine on Saturday and Derek is in France it gave them quite a shock when they got the P. Card as they were expecting him home on[deleted]e[/deleted] leave he as only had the one leave of a few days at Easter since he went up Harold had 48 hrs Bank Holiday and saw Fred and is [sic] Dad in town so he is still here I think all the lads are OK up to press Stanley asnt [sic] been this last week or so he as come to Newark where you use [sic] to byke [sic] too, his mother told me last week. write soon if only a few line’s Love from
