Dear Mam & Dad,
I arrived back here O.K. at 11 o clock on Friday. I had a lift to the station in Mr Pascoe’s car but the journey back to Wellington was not so good as I stood up almost all the way. At Birmingham I met two of the other blokes and had quite a good meal at a canteen there for only ten pence. The navigator Johny Rae was on the same train to Wellington but we did not see him until we arrived as he was travelling first class.
I have been working

pretty hard since Friday and we have completed all our day flying with still a week to go.
Fish was on a forty eight when I got back and he has not started flying again as yet as either one or another of his crew is always sick. Luckily none of my crew have ever been sick so we are among the first to finish, I hope we are as lucky on night flying.
Last night I went into Wellington with Johny Rae to see the film “Guadalcanal Diary, tell my Dad to go and see it but I do not think it would suit you.

On Monday night I went out cycling with a couple of the boys and having got lost a couple of times we managed to get back home. I guess we must have coveded [sic] about thirty miles which is the most I have ever done at a stretch for about three years.
I guess thats all for now, I shall be sending some laundry in a few days time.
Remember me to all and I hope our Reneé [deleted] has [/deleted] is alright now.
Your loving son
Lewis.
P.S I have written to Hats about our Cyril’s bike
