Dear Mam & Dad,
At last I have received my laundry but you should have seen the mess it was in. There was hardly any paper around it and I am not sure if everything was there. There was pyjamas, two shirts, vest and pants. There was no socks and it looked as if there had been some cigarettes but I did not receive any.
I have started flying and I have soloed on these kites but the weather is pretty bad and it is holding us up. The crew get on O.K. in the air but they all want to sit in the second pilots’ seat and help me to drive.

Apparently old Hats is already fed up with Harrogate and says he would not mind being sent overseas again. He does not know when he is well off.
The bike is coming in very useful as the nearest pub is four miles away and Wellington is eight miles away and buses are not too plentiful. Last night I went with my crew to Hodnet on the bike but none of them are very big drinkers so thats a good thing.
These shoes I have here are wearing through and one is splitting down the side so I could do with the others.
By the way I hope you have sent my watch on as I need it now that I have started flying.
Your loving son
Lewis
P.S I have just received the parcel and the watch. P.T.O.

I received a letter from our young Charlie but I have not had time to reply as yet.
