Dear Lewis

Just a line to let you know I am in the best of health & having some time here. I am writing this in bed so excuse writing [deleted] an [/deleted] & it is getting dark to [sic]. We have only worked 2 hours today as it has rained the rest of the time but we varied the

[deleted] N [/deleted] “Monopoly” & after tea we had a hay fight in the barn. We have just found 1 bunch of nettles 1 horseradish & 1 shoe in Scotts bed 1 Wellington in Crabbes & a soap box in mine. I wrote to my mum & your’s on Thursday & got a reply from mum today. Hope you are getting on O.K at the new place. We have heard nothing about the war out here & except for seeing

a lot of Dakotas, Horsa & Hadrian gliders & Lightnings we don’t know there's a war on.
