Dear Mrs. Pickford,
As I told you in my letter of the 5th., inst., I immediately caused enquiries to be made concerning the report of your Son’s death, as a result of which we have to-day received a telegram from the Air Ministry confirming that he definitely is a prisoner of war. I need scarcely assure you how delighted we are at the news, and I know what a great relief it must be to you.
I am returning your Son’s letters and cards herewith, and thank you for sending them to me; they certainly did a great deal towards clearing this matter up.
