Dear Mrs Pickford,
Thank you for your letter of last week, and I was so delighted to learnt [sic] that you have received news from your son that he is safe and back with our men again, it must have been a tremendous relief to you to receive such good news. I hope that it won’t be long before he is home again and I hope that when he does come you will let me know so that I may meet him and give him his share of the Welcome Home Fund.
Wishing your son all the very best of good luck in the future, and I hope he will accept our thanks for all that he has done for us,
With kindest regards,
Yours sincerely
