Dear Mam & Dad,

I got to London at 12-0 yesterday and after taking two buses got to Lords. Here we filled in two forms & were put into flights. Our Corpral [sic] (Avery) a nice chap then took us to our billets in some magnificent flats. Five of us are sharing a room & a bath room.

When we got to settle down the cpl took us for our dinner & then we got of [sic] uniform & kit. I’ve got the uniform on now. They must have doped the dinner for everyone was using the lav. last night.

This morning we had to [mark deleted] wear dark glasses for an hour and the [sic] had a [sic] eye test. This was for night fighting. I shall be at this address for a fortnight so you can write back. The food and bedding are O.K. and the chaps in our room are all about the same age. [deleted letter] Tell Fred and Hats I’ll write as soon as I have time but I’m very busy all day and I have had to scrible [sic] this. I hope every one is alright [deleted] right [/deleted] write soon.

Your loving son

Lewis
