My darling Jean,
Just a few lines to let you know how everything is, am just about recovering from Saturday, unfortunately Jack is now in sick quarters, has a touch of gastric flu and had a temperature of 102 last [deleted letter] night, however he is a little better tonight but is still having violent stomach pains when he eats anything, as the result we are not flying at the moment.
As I mentioned on the phone someone did puncture the fountain and it was a terrible mess next morning, we all helped

to clean up but the two carpets need cleaning, theyre a dirty mud colour now!
I’ve just finished writing to Roma, enclosed your photo so hope you won’t be sea-sick when you cross the Atlantic.
Had a letter from Dad yesterday, he said the Council had sent some forms to be filled in but is making progress.
I found the photograph frame in the car and your picture is beside me on the writing table, makes it look much more homely,
I’m getting into the habit already

of asking you if I can go out to the bar for a drink!
Talking about the car I’ve filled in a form and had it duly signed by the adjutant for some tyres, all that has to be done is for the Petroleum Inspector to approve then I may get the tyres! also another garage man is trying to get the jacking system fixed.
I have’nt heard from the Nuffield scheme yet but am going to chase the Adjutant tomorrow, perhaps he can wake things up. if this is no good I’ll try writing somewhere.
Well, darling not a lot more to write about, we won the cricket match on Sunday, Ginger took 4 for 7 runs and I took

3 for 14 runs, we got them all out for 38. We scored 50, I managed to get 8, was quite an enjoyable afternoon.
Must pack up now as I’m up early in the morning 4.30am to be exact as I’ve to do the briefing for the bombing section, our Bombing Leader is on leave.
Cheerio darling, shall be writing again soon, regards to Mother & Dad.
All my love
Jack
