My darling Jean,

Thanks so much for your last letter which I received yesterday, thought I would write today as we may be busy tomorrow.

We had a night out last night at our usual local, we only used one car so we took Tommy along with us. Ron has got me some petrol so we are all O.K for a few trips.

We had our tea in Bury and arrived there at 8 ⁰/c after stopping on the way, I think I mentioned that Ron’s wife is staying there for a few weeks, rather cramps his style I think.

Am glad to say that I’ve recovered from my football episode, of course we won, in spite of the fact that we were two down at half time, it was quite nice but I’ve decided to go back to a nice rousing game of chess.

We managed to scrounge a table tennis ball, had several games.

do you think you could get me one if you see them in the course of your travels.

Also you remember your friend who said she might be able to get a camera, is there any chance of her getting Jack a 127 film? he has a camera but no films.

Ive noted all your remarks about tiling, I know its a skilled job but maybe I could do it, practise on a small piece first shall I?

The other night we saw “Pride & Prejudice” at the camp cinema

expect you have seen it, I enjoyed it immensely, Greer Garson seemed pretty well suited to the part.

Fancy you getting a blister, wonder how that happened, must have been drinking your tea too hot, or could it be due to something else?

Well darling, thats about all the news at the moment, remember me to Mother & Dad, should be seeing you in just over four weeks.

Take care of yourself, all my love darling,

Yours

Jack
