4 Feb 1943: Dear Folks
Well I’m in Ottawa with lots of snow and cold weather.
Arrived this morning at 10 o’clock. Went down to CPR right under the old bridge. Couldn’t see any light at home. [ed. unsure of what he means.]
We go to school from 4 am until 12 am daily except Sat and Sun. Another fellow and I have a room in an attic. It is not very warm but I guess will manage.
Rooms are very scarce here and lots of fellows are staying in Hotels as yet, about 17 dollars a week for board at Hotel. The room we have cost us $12 a month and we cook our own meals on a coal oil stove we bought. (Reminds me of the cabin trailer)
The fellow I room with is awful religious. He reads the Bible an hour every night and does nothing but preach to me. He has an aunt here and we are invited over to their house for Sunday evening. It is the largest church I’ve ever seen.
Our landlady seems very friendly and our room is spotlessly clean. Hope we can keep it that way.
Hope everyone is fine at home. Received your letter yesterday before I left Maning [sic] ?school?.
Be sure and write. Gave Dora my car keys to send you. Be sure and look after the Battery. Will be closing now as it is bed time.
Love Glenn
