A bomber pilot’s journey through WWII
Biography of Squadron Leader David James Baikie Wilson, DSO, DFC and Bar (1917 - 1947). He flew operations as a pilot with 214, 196 and 617 Squadrons before becoming Head of Aerodynamic Development and Testing, and Test-Pilot at A V Roe & Co Ltd. He was killed 23 August 1947 in the Avro Tudor crash.

Constructional works, Siracourt, day 25th June 1944, narrative
States that squadron was detailed to attack third constructional site at Sirancourt just to the west of St Pol. One P-51, two Mosquitos and 17 Lancasters took off for attack. Reports clear weather and good target marking. Aircraft bombed visually to high standard. Two direct hits penetrated roof and one very near miss. Large explosion reported at 09:05. Reports intense accurate anti-aircraft fire and one aircraft hit.

Targets were, Antheor Viaduct, Berlin, Boulogne, Brest, Brunswick, Dusseldorf, Essen, Etaples, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Juvisy-Paris, Kassel, La Pallice, Le Havre, Leipzig, Lorient, Lyon, Milan, Modane, Munich, Nurnberg, Pas de Calais, Rilly La Montagne, Saumer Tunnel, Siracourt, St Cyr-Paris, St Etienne, Tirpitz-Alten Fiord, Tirpitz-Tromso. Toulouse, Watten and Wizernes. His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Knights.

Stuttgart, Trappes, le Mans, Essen, Nurnberg, Villeneuve, Tergnier, Otignes, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Aulnoye, Acheres, Malines, Aachen, Bourg Leopold, Ferme D’Urville, Maisy, Chateaudun, Laval, Versailles, Evercy, Sterkrade, St Martin L’Hortier, Siracourt, Mimoyeques, Wizernes, Villers Bocage, Oisemont, Domleger, Ferme Le Forestal, Le Landes and Le Cateliers. His pilots for his first 'second dickie' operations were Flight Lieutenant Reavill and Pilot Officer Cameron.
