A háború elveszett
The war is lost and Hungarian people must rebel against the Germans and their allies. In order to save their country they have to sabotage transportation, damage industrial plants and factories, resort to strike, walkout and mass demonstration. The goal is to force the government to make peace. Includes a quote from Miklós Horthy, the regent of Hungary.

Account of crash of Wellington W5421 and Flt Lt Roy Langlois's crew and Belgian Comet escape line
Includes photographs of twelve squadron officers, the crashed aircraft, some of the crew, Jack and Mary Newton and Sgt R D Porteous. Recounts the last sortie of the crew to Aachen when they had to jettison their bombs, an engine caught fire and they crash landed the aircraft near Antwerp. Crew escaped after setting aircraft on fire and made contact with the Belgian Beaver-Baton escape line. They split into two groups of three. Reports then list the subsequent fate of all the crew, Jack Newton being the only one to get safely home to England - the other two in his subgroup were captured. The other three were sent on by the escape line to Vichy France but report does not say their eventual fate.

Alfonso ‘Liviano’ Zamparo being tortured
World War (1939-1945)
A screaming naked man is suspended across a cell by ropes tied around his wrists, looped over a hook on the wall, and his ankles, looped through the bars of a window. The rope threaded through the window is held by a uniformed figure. A bucket is visible in the corner of the cell. The walls of the cell are flecked with blood stains.
Caption translates as: “Palmanova, 19 December 1944-17 February 1945. Doctor Alfonso Zamparo (also known as “Liviano”) of Osoppo was hung for five hours in cell number 1. He was completely naked. From his own account: I was released from the ropes and pushed towards the entrance of the cell. The rope passed above the door and then secured outside, on the sliding lock. Then, I was hung with my feet above the floor. It was an ordeal: kicks, punches, canes, and musket shots lacerated my flesh. They threw at me buckets of ice-cold water, then hot, and I was given dense salt solutions to drink. I was sent to Dachau on the 24 February.”

Bicycle with an improvised explosive device left at a mountain check-point
World War (1939-1945)
Nino Zanninello has been stopped by two of the soldiers manning a mountain check-point. One of the soldiers is holding onto the right handlebar of a bicycle, whilst another soldier is asking him questions and taking down notes.
Caption reads “108”; signed by the author; caption reads “Novembre 1944. (2).
Caption translates as: “November 1944. (2) … After hearing that Nazi-Fascists manning checkpoints confiscate all bicycles ridden by civilians without papers, Nino went there to devise his plan. As he approached, they asked for his papers. He said he forgot and left them at home and that he would go back to fetch them. Meanwhile, he rapidly pushed the timer button under the seat. Then, looking dispirited, he headed back towards the valley on foot. The German soldier collected the bicycle and placed it on one side of the hut…”

Capture of the partisan Giovanni ‘Rasin’ Cargnello
World War (1939-1945)
During the day, in a quiet street outside a pharmacy, three figures dressed in green or brown are aiming pistols and rifles at two civilians. One civilian is dressed in a red and white striped T-shirt and brown trousers, whilst the other wears a suit and has dropped his briefcase.
Caption translates as: “(2) San Giorgio di Nogaro (Udine province). I personally witnessed the arrest of Cargnello Giovanni (also known as “Rasin”) by Borsatti. It was a warm afternoon, I was in the ‘20th September’ square. Borsatti was wearing a leather jacket, wielding a big gun. He was accompanied by other men and, moving from the corner of the square, arrested Rasin. This was Rasin’s end. He will disappear, because of brutal tortures, in the sewers and in the quicklime [pit] of the infamous ‘Piave’ barracks in Palmanova (Udine province).”

Caption translates as: “Carnia. 21 July 1944… From the account of the only two survivors of the Casera Lanza massacre. They were hidden in the haystacks. Those who pretended to be partisans, but weren’t, showed up asking for food. Then, they rewarded the hosts for their hospitality by firing their weapons towards anyone in the alpine dairy. The victims were 16. They were slaughtered shortly after midday and the bodies were abused, plundered, and piled up in a corner of the building.”

Civilians rounded up and brutally interrogated in a farmhouse
World War (1939-1945)
In a farmhouse, three civilians are being interrogated by soldiers in fascist and nazi uniforms. The prisoner in the foreground is being tortured by strappado i.e. suspending the entire weight of the person on their wrists, which are tied together behind the back. The civilian in the mid-ground is being punched in the face, while the one in the background is being beaten with sticks. A soldier in the bottom right corner is checking a document. A wheel-barrow, two spades and a pitchfork are visible.
Label reads “218”; signed by the author; caption reads “3 FEBBRAIO 1945.
Caption translates as: “3 February 1945. Pampaluna di Porpetto (Udine province). Nazi-Fascist mop-up: they are looking for Romano 'the left handed' inside Battistella farmhouse. They did not find him. They beat Sante for one hour and then hung him in the barn, one metre above the ground. His nephew, Onorio Barbuio, was hanged by the neck until exhaustion. Behind the hay barn door, Sebastiano Garbuio was severely beaten."
