A spoof photograph of a crew of five aboard a flying carpet. The pilot is wearing a light coloured flying suit and using a broomstick as a control column. An airman is crouching over the pilot looking through a telescope, another sits beside a camera operator and points downwards. The fifth crew member operates a machine gun to the rear on which a bird perches. The carpet is powered by a beer keg alongside which sits a beer glass. They are flying in the clouds with a flock of birds to one side and a signpost indicating Berlin on one direction and Syerston in the other. Hanging from the top is a 'keep left' sign.
The second is an air-to-air view of the port side of Manchester taken from the starboard side of another Manchester.

12 pages listing 204 aircraft that were flown by No. 166 Squadron. Six columns record each aircraft's registration number, the date received, where it came from, the code letters and details of it's loss or disposal. For some aircraft the number of hours flown is also recorded. The list is ordered by registration number. There are eight addenda, each giving further details about an individual aircraft and it's crew. The cover page has an image of a Lancaster carrying the code letters of No. 166 Squadron.

At No 5 Lancaster Finishing School between February and November 1944 at RAF Syerston, lists 46 Lancasters. At 227 Squadron RAF Balderton November 1944 to March 1945, lists 27 Lancasters. On 106 Squadron, second tour at RAF Metheringham between April and October 1945, lists 23 Lancasters. Then gives total hours flown on Lancaster, York, Stirling, Manchester, Wellington, Oxford, C-47 and Tiger Moth.

Kenneth Gill - service history
Joined 18 June 1941. Trained as navigator in Canada. After operational and conversions training in England during which he flew two operations. He was posted to 9 Squadron at RAF Bardney where he flew 25 operations which are listed. After a tour as a navigator instructor, he went to 617 Squadron and flew 19 further operations and was killed along with his crew on the last. Operations on 617 listed.

Awarded Distinguished Flying Cross 8 December 1943. Continues to list flying as navigation instructor at 5 Lancaster finishing school RAF Syerston from December 1943 to September 1944 when he joined 617 Squadron at RAF Woodhall Spa. List flying and operations from September 1944, including both operations against Tirpitz and many others (viaducts, boat pens, Emden, oil refinery and Urft dam) with tallboy and grand slam bombs (escorted by Spitfires or RAF P-51s). Was reported missing believed killed on operation to Abergen Railway Bridge near Bremen on 21 March 1945. Total of 46 operations. Concludes with account of loss of aircraft and loss of all crew.
