Observer's and air gunner's flying log book for Geoffrey Gosney. One
This log book covers the training, operational and post war flying career of Geoffrey Gosney from 2 July 1942 to 12 July 1951. It includes a cartoon of the 426 Squadron crest. Geoffrey flew 31 operations in two tours of duty, 23 of which were night operations with 10, 227, 426, 428 and 462 Squadrons. Targets in Egypt, Libya, France, Germany and Greece were Calais, Cap Gris Nez, Dorsten, Frankfurt, Goch, Hanau, Leverkusen, Maleme, Marsa Matruh, Mönchengladbach, Münster, Rheine, Sallum, Soda Bay, Tobruk and Wanne-Eickel. Pilots in operations were Squadron Leader Goldston, Sergeant Wyatt, Flight Officer McGregor, Flying Officer Kagna, Wing Commander Burgess, Flight Lieutenant Garratt, Flight Officer Brodie, Pilot Officer Fuller, Wing Commander Black and Flight Lieutenant Davies. During March, April and May Geoffrey’s duty in the Halifax VII is described in his log book as ‘’screening”. In 1946/47 he was involved in the transport of troops and the dropping of paratroopers and the transportation of freight and troops in the Middle East. Back in the UK he took part in a formation fly past over Banbury. In February 1948 his duties are again described as “screening’ in the Halifax but now with ‘Flying Wing’ at Fairford. Geoffrey remained in the Royal Air Force and served in Palestine. He took part in the Berlin Airlift, transporting coal to Berlin. Transferred to RAF Hemswell with 97 Squadron.

Peter Thompson’s Log Book as Wireless Operator from 17 September 1943 until 11 July 1946. His training started at No. 2 Radio School and No. 3 Air Gunnery School. Posted to No. 4 AFU, 11 OTU, 1653 CU, 3 LFS, and 195 Squadron for operations. After the war transferred to Transport Command, 1332 HCU, 246 and 511 Squadrons.
Served at RAF Yatesbury, RAF Castle Kennedy, RAF Madley, RAF Westfreugh, RAF Oakley, RAF Westcott, RAF Chedburgh, RAF Feltwell, RAF Wratting Common, RAF Llandow, RAF Riccall, RAF Dishforth, RAF Holmsley South, RAF Lyneham.
Aircraft flown were Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster and York.
Carried out 28 operations with 195 Squadron to Homberg, Gelsenkirchen, Neuss, Oberhausen, Hamm, Merseburg Oil Plant, Cologne, Vohwinkle, Ludwigshafen, Krefeld, Wanne-Eickel, Munchengladbach, Dortmund, Kamen, Nordstern Oil Plant, Berlin-Potsdam, Heligoland, Bremen, Bad Oldesloe. Also flew 2 Operation Manna flights and 1 Cook's Tour.
His pilots on operations were Flying Officer Evans, Flight Lieutenant Moon, Flight Lieutenant Bird and Flight Lieutenant Easterman.

Detailing his post war flying with 511 squadron, flying training, instructor duties and civilian flying with Scandinavian Air Services. Detailing his instructor duties, operations flown, flying training and post war duties with 246 Squadron and 511 Squadron. He was stationed at RAF Tatenhill, RAF Grove, RAF Ramsbury, RAF Little Rissington, RAF Windrush, RAF Bruntingthorpe, RAF Bitteswell, RAF Marston Moor, RAF Pocklington, RAF Merryfield, RAF Nutts Corner, RAF Holmsley South and RAF Lyneham. Aircraft flown in were Oxford, Magister, Wellington, Halifax, Stirling, York, Dakota, and Lancaster. He flew a total of 34 operations with 102 Squadron. Targets were St Martin L’Hortier, Domleger, Mimoyecque, Caen, St Nazaire, Hauts Boissons, Stuttgart, Wanne Eickel, Le Foret de Nieppe, La Belle Croix les Eroyerus, Somain, Brunswick, Sterkrade, Lumbres, Venlo, Gelsenkirchen, Buer, Duisburg, Essen, Dusseldorf, Julech, Horten, Hagan, Soest, Osnabruck and Drams Fjord. Eric Parker's Biography
Titled Eric's Story it details Eric's life from birth in Liverpool. He joined the RAF on his 18th birthday in January 1942. Initial training was at Paignton then he was shipped to Canada. He failed to progress as a pilot and was transferred to a navigator course, returning to UK in February 1944. He flew in Lancasters with 12 Squadron at Wickenby. He and his entire crew were given five days leave so that he could get married in January 1945.
His crew dropped food for the starving Dutch as part of Operation Manna. After the war he served with Transport Command on Yorks. He continued moving around and spent time on B-29s then Canberras at Marham. Later he and his family were sent to Kuala Lumpur then Penang on Dakotas.
On his return he was posted to Abingdon on Beverleys. This included trips to Nairobi.
He transferred to Haydock as a radio controller, after which he left the RAF and became a teacher.

Reg Miles flying log book for flight engineers
Flying log book for R S Miles covering the period from 11 March 1944 to 28 February 1946 covers and front pages missing. Detailing his flying training and operations flown, together with his post war service in Transport Command. Includes details of targets, certificates of competency, hit by anti-aircraft fire, additional notes following his aircraft being shot down and returning to operations. He was stationed at RAF Dishforth (1664 HCU), RAF East Moor (432 Sqdn RCAF), RAF Tholthorpe (420 Sqdn RCAF), RAF Nutts Corner (1332 HCU), RAF Stoney Cross (242 Sqdn), RAF Holmsley South (246 Sqdn), RAF Lyneham (511 Sqdn). Aircraft flown in were Halifax, York and Stirling. He flew 36 operations (21 night time and 15 daylight) with 432 and 420squadrons. Targets were Ghent, Paris, Lens, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Essen, Montzen, Somain, Le Clipon, Mont Couple, Neufchatel, Houlgate, Coutances, Mayenne, Cambrai, Hamburg, <span>Œuf-en-Ternois</span>, Foret de Nieppe, Bois de Cassan, St Leu D’Esserent, La Hougue, Foret de Chantilly, Foret de Montrichard, Bons Tassilly, Brussels, Connantre, Marquise-Mimoyecques, Le Havre, Castrop-Rauxel, Osnabruck, Keil, Boulogne, Calais, Bottrop, Sterkrade, Bergen, Dortmund. It also lists his post war flights. His pilots on operations were Pilot Officer Lauzon and Pilot Officer Tease.

Aircraft flown in were Tiger Moth, Anson, Wellington and Liberator. Targets were Benghazi, Tobruk, shipping strikes, Maleme, Tunis and Tripoli. He flew a total of 22 operations with 159 and 148 Squadrons. James Lee’s observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book
Observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book for J R Lee, flight engineer, covering the period from 15 November 1942 to 15 August 1943 where he was listed as missing and was the only survivor of his crew that crashed in France and became a prisoner of war. Following his repatriation, he returned to flying on 25 February 1946 until 22 November 1949. Detailing his flying training, operations flown, and post war flying duties with 511 Squadron and he carried out 321 flights in the Berlin airlift with 99 Squadron. He was stationed at RAF Scampton, RAF Bottesford, RAF Ossington, RAF Dishforth and RAF Lyneham. Aircraft flown in were Manchester, Lancaster, Oxford, York, Dakota, Anson and Hastings. He flew a total of 24 operations with 467 squadron. Targets were Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Lorient, Cologne, Berlin, Essen, Nurnberg, Duisberg, Pilsen, Dortmund, Friedrichshaven, Spezia, Gelsenkirchen, Genoa and Milan. His pilots on operations were Wing Commander Cosme Lockwood Gomm DSO DFC, Flight Sergeant Warder and Flight sergeant Dixon.

Aircraft in which flown: Tiger Moth, DH82C, Harvard, Anson I, Oxford, Wellington III, Wellington X, Stirling III, Lancaster Mk I, Lancaster Mk 3, Lancaster X, York C1. He flew a total of 35 operations (12 night, 23 day) with 75(NZ) Squadron Bomber Command RAF on the following targets in France, Germany and the Netherlands: Bonn, Calais, Cologne, Dortmund, Duisburg, Eindhoven, Emmerich, Essen, Flushing, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamm, Homberg, Kattegat, Koblenz, Le Havre, Leuna (Merseberg), Oberhausen, Osterfeld, Pont-Remy, Saarbrucken, Solingen, Stettin, Stuttgart and Westkapelle Dyke. <span>He flew as a second pilot on operations with </span>Flight Lieutenant Washer.
