The collection concerns Flight Sergeant David Adrian Boldy (1918 – 1942, 923995 Royal Air Force) and consists of his school reports, letters from school and photographs of family and locations in India, letters from training and service, and photographs from his social life and time training. It also includes newspaper cuttings and letters about him being missing in action. David Boldy was born and attended school in India and studied law at Kings College London. He volunteered for the Royal Air Force and trained as an air gunner in South Africa. He flew operations in Manchesters and Lancasters with 207 Squadron from RAF Bottesford. Thank you for your letters. I am very sorry to hear about poor Pompon getting a bite. I am sending you 16 more pieces of silver paper. I am glad to hear you were given a Black hound 4 months. old. Is it a Blood Hound.?. [sic] We played the yorks and lanks [sic] B team in Hockey for the John Shield and lost 1-0. We really got a goal in a penalty bully but the referee never gave it so Mr Coombes the captain of our hockey team has written to the secretary about this. We must teach the hound to [deleted] J [/deleted] jump and those sought [sic] of things. I have past [sic] in my master at arms badge in scouts and I know how to cook stew and make an amlet [sic] all by my-self. [sic] I wrote you a letter on friday. I have know [sic] more news. Thank you for your letters. We played the finals and lost 4-0. That team were a dirty fouling team. Poor Booth are [sic] goalkeeper was biffed in the stomach with ball in his hands and fell down, he had to be picked up and his stomach rubed [sic] until he got up. Towards the end of the match when their [sic] was about 10 minuets [sic] left and Mr Edwards knew the match was [deleted] there [/deleted] theirs he started knocking their chaps about. About five of them charged him and he knocked all of them on the ground they were all dead scared of him. It was very bad luck for us. The team went to the pictures yesterday.
