He flew operations as an observer with 35 Squadron and was killed 19 May 1942. Seven uniformed men arranged on the bonnet of a car with an eighth man in uniform at the wheel. Three men are wearing peaked caps, four wear half caps and one is bareheaded. One of the men hold a pair of gloves in his hand. Half brevets and sergeant stripes can be seen. The car is parked in front of two Nissen huts with another alongside together with a utility pole. Leaning against one of the Nissen huts is a bicycle.
