Reginald Weeden's Royal Canadian Air Force flying log book for aircrew other than pilot
Flying log book for aircrew other than pilot for R C Weeden, navigator, covering the period from 27 May 1943 to 31 January 1948. Detailing his flying training, operations flown and post war flying with 35 squadron. He was stationed at RCAF Malton, RCAF Port Albert, RAF Llandwrog, RAF Desborough, RAF Chedburgh, RAF Feltwell, RAF Mepal, RAF Graveley and RAF Stradishall. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster, Lincoln, Dakota, York and Proctor. He flew a total of 34 operations with 75 Squadron, 24 daylight and 10 night. He also flew Operation Goodwill to the United States with 35 Squadron. Targets were Pont Remy, Eindhoven, Le Havre, Stettin, Frankfurt, Calais, Kattegat, Walcheren, Saarbrucken, Dortmund, Emmerich, Duisburg, Bonn, Stuttgart, Flushing, Essen, Solingen, Koblenz, Homberg, Gelsenkirchen, Cologne, Osterfeld, Oberhausen, Hamm and Merseburg. His pilot on operations was Flying Officer Ford.

Extracts from log book from July 1944 on No 1 LFS and 625 Squadron on operations flying Lancasters and Oxfords on beam approach training, and then onto 156 Squadron in September 1944 until May 1945. There is also a summary of operations flown on 156 Squadron, a list of the stations he served at, a Tiger Moth endorsement and Link trainer sessions. His first or second pilots on operations were Pilot Officer Maxwell, Flight Lieutenant Marvin, Pilot Officer Kelsey, Pilot Officer Pollard and Flying Officer Lambert. Completed 60 Operations plus Operation Manna and Operation Exodus. Operations 4-18 missing from logbook. This item was sent to the IBCC Digital Archive already in digital form. No better quality copies are available.

Recollection of the navigator of a Lancaster which took part in the bombing of Dresden on 13/14 February 1945
Aircraft from 153 Squadron at Scampton. Describes crew and some history of the aircraft "P" Peter. Goes on to describe operation in detail from briefing, through the flight with navigation details, bombing and return to base. Saw no sign of Luftwaffe during operation. Relates aircraft being hit on previous operation to Politz. Comments on having to do two very long sorties on successive nights. Relate later operation to Duisburg and seeing 5 Lancaster go down after being hit by fighters or anti aircraft fire. States what they were told of reason for Dresden operation. At the end gives a list of operations. Includes a separate copy of last page with list of operations.

Introduces Michael G Hanson an RAF reservist and tells of time sailing before stating training. Covers elementary and advanced training before joining 233 Squadron at RAF Leuchars on Hudson. Relates life on the station, in local area and on maritime operations. Continues with accounts of convoy escort from Northern Ireland and life at RAF Aldergrove including meeting member of women's auxiliary air force. Relates attacks on Scharnhorst and Gneisenau and other Atlantic operations from RAF St Eval. After completing his tour he became a navigator instructor. He was posted to bomber command in June 1944 and trained on Wellington and Halifax and then on to Lancaster at RAF Hemswell. Describes first operation over France while still training. Eventually goes to 625 Squadron at RAF Kelstern. Gives detailed account of operations including Essen, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bochum (attached by fighter), Gelsenkirchen, Wanne-Eickel, Dortmund, Harburg, Duren, Bonn, St Vith, Rheydt, Sholven/Buer (oil refinery). Interspersed with accounts of life on camp. Continues with description of other operations, pathfinding, H2S, use of Mosquito. Gives account of operation to Dresden and other operations towards end of the war. Concludes with mention of Operation Manna and award of Distinguished Flying Cross and life after the end of the war. All the way through he writes of activities, events, friends, colleagues and girl friends.

He was stationed at RAF Madley, RAF Llandwrog, RAF Chipping Warden, RAF Foulsham, RAF Watton and RAF Mildenhall. Aircraft flown in were Proctor, Dominie, Anson, Wellington, Halifax, Mosquito, Fortress and Lancaster. He flew a total of 38 operations with 192 squadron. Targets were Brest, Pas de Calais, Belgian-Dutch coast, Heligoland, Frisian Islands, North Sea patrol, Sylt, Julich, Mannheim, Munchengladbach, Ruhr and Stuttgart. Ian Grant Henderson’s navigator’s log book covering the period from 28 June 1943 to 9 Aug 1945. Detailing his flying training and operations flown as navigator. He was stationed at RCAF Edmonton (2 AOS), RAF Bishops Court (7 OAFU), RAF Peplow (83 OTU), RAF Blyton (1662 HCU), RAF Kirmington (166 Squadron and 153 Squadron), RAF Crosby-on-Eden (109 OTU). Aircraft flown in were Anson, Wellington, Halifax, Lancaster and Dakota. He flew a total of 11 operations with 166 Squadron and 21 with 153 Squadron, total 32 plus one leaflet drop (Blois) and one recall (Neuss). His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Legg. Targets were Calais, Saarbrucken, Emmerich, Duisburg, Stuttgart, Essen, Cologne, Wanne Eichel, Duren, Dortmund, Urft Dam, Royan, Bonn, Bottrip, Heligoland Bight (mining), Politz, Dresden, Chemnitz, Mannheim, Misburg, Bremen, Harpererheg, Paderborn and Lutzkendorf. Herbert Tinning’s Royal Australian Air Force Observer’s Air Gunner’s And W/T Operator’s Flying Log Book
Herbert Tinning’s Royal Australian Air Force Observer’s Air Gunner’s And W/T Operator’s Flying Log Book from 25th August 1942 to 11th March 1945. Recording his training as a navigator in Australia and Great Britain and a full tour of operations with 51 squadron, followed by a short period with 96 squadron (Transport Command). He was based at RAAF Cootamundra, RAAF Sale, RAAF Nhill, RAF Desford, RAF West Freugh, RAF Lichfield, RAF Church Broughton, RAF Marston Moor, RAF Snaith and RAF Leconfield. Aircraft in which flown: Anson, Battle, Tiger Moth, Wellington and Halifax. He flew 40 operations (19 day, 19 night, 2 abandoned/recalled) on the following targets in Belgium, France and Germany: Alencon, Boulogne, Brest, Caen (Emieville), Calais, Cape Griz Nez, Chateaudon, Collines-Beaumont, Croixdalle, Essen, Foret de Nieppe, Hannover, Haringzelles, Hasselt, Herquelingue, Homberg, Kiel, Kleves, Le Grand Rossignol, Le Havre, Les Catelliers, Marquise, Mont Fleury, Morsalines, Neuss (Dusseldorf), Oisemont, Siracourt, St Martin L’hortier, Sterkrade, Stuttgart, Trappes, Villers Bocage, Wilhemshaven and Wizernes. His pilot on operations was Flight Sergeant Moore. On 6th June 1944 he notes: “‘D’ DAY OPENING OF SECOND FRONT”. In October 1944 he notes “AWARDED - DFC”.

Robert Mitchell’s flying log book
Robert Mitchell’s Flying Log Book, from 19th July 1943 to 7th January 1954, recording training, operations and other post-war duties as a Pilot. No flights are recorded in the years 1947-1950. Based at RAF Long Marston (No. 24 OTU), RAF Topcliffe (1659 Heavy Conversion unit), RAF Leeming (429 RCAF Squadron), RAF Skipton, RCAF Station Dartmouth Nova Scotia (RCAF Eastern Air Command) and Windsor Airport Ontario (Operation Chipmunk). Aircraft in which flown: Wellington III, Wellington X, Halifax, Lancaster I, Lancaster III, Lancaster X, Oxford, Beechcraft Expeditor, Dakota, Anson V, Hudson and Chipmunk. Records 33 operations in total but only 24 in detail (19 night, 5 day). Targets in Germany and Norway are: Bochum, Castrop-Rauxel, Dortmund, Duisburg, Dusseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Hanover, Karlsruhe, Kiel, Kiel Canal, Mainz, Neuss, Oberhausen, Oslo, Oslo Fjord, Soest, Wanne-Eickel and Zweibrucken. His pilots for his first 'second dickie' operations were Flying Officer Gillis and Flying Officer Barlow.
Also includes letters relating to Canadian war service call-up.

He was stationed at RAF Desford (7 EFTS), RCAF Neepawa (35 EFTS), RCAF Weyburn (41 SFTS), RCAF Charlottetown (31 GRS), RAF Dalcross (19(P) AFU), RAF Perton (21(P) AFU), RAF Desborugh (84 OTU), RAF Chedburgh (1653 Heavy Conversion Unit), RAF Feltwell (3 LFS), RAF Mepal (75(NZ)) Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth (20 OTU), RAF Lulsgate Bottom (No 3 FIS), RAF Lyneham (246 and 511 Squadrons), RAF Holmsley (246 Squadron) and RAF Filton (12 Reserve Flying School). Aircraft in which flown: Tiger Moth, DH82C, Harvard, Anson I, Oxford, Wellington III, Wellington X, Stirling III, Lancaster Mk I, Lancaster Mk 3, Lancaster X, York C1. He flew a total of 35 operations (12 night, 23 day) with 75(NZ) Squadron Bomber Command RAF on the following targets in France, Germany and the Netherlands: Bonn, Calais, Cologne, Dortmund, Duisburg, Eindhoven, Emmerich, Essen, Flushing, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamm, Homberg, Kattegat, Koblenz, Le Havre, Leuna (Merseberg), Oberhausen, Osterfeld, Pont-Remy, Saarbrucken, Solingen, Stettin, Stuttgart and Westkapelle Dyke. <span>He flew as a second pilot on operations with </span>Flight Lieutenant Washer.

Flying log book for navigators, air bombers, air gunners, flight engineers for R Gard, air gunner, covering the period from 7 March 1944 to 14 February 1945 when he went missing on operations. He was stationed at RAF Stormy Down, RAF Turweston, RAF Silverstone, RAF Winthorpe, RAF Syerston and RAF Waddington. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Wellington, Stirling and Lancaster. He flew a total of 17 operations with 463 squadron, 4 Daylight and 13 night operations. Targets were Brunswick, Nuremburg, Flushing, Bergen, Homberg, Dusseldorf, Ems-Weser Canal, Dortmund-Ems Canal, Trondheim, Giessen, Heimbach, Gdynia, Merseburg-Luana, Siegen, Politz and Rositz. His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Padgham.
