Robert Blamires' South African Air Force observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book
R G Blamires Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book covering the period from 25 November 1942 to 10 May 1946, detailing his flying training and operations flown as Navigator. He was stationed at South African AF Port Elizabeth (42 Air School), RAF Millom (2 OAFU), RAF Wymeswold (28 OTU), RAF Blyton (1662 HCU), RAF Hemswell (1 LFS), RAF Elsham Wolds (103 Squadron) and RAF Scampton and RAF Lindholme (57 Squadron). Aircraft flown in Anson, Wellington, Halifax, Lancaster and Lincoln. He flew on one night operation with 1662 HCU, and 17 night and 13 day operations with 103 Squadron, total 31. He also flew three Operation Manna and three Operation Dodge POW repatriation flights. Targets were Orleans, Duisburg, Dortmund, Aachen, Calais, St Martin-de-Varreville, Vire, Flers, Gelsenkirchen, Cahagnes, Le Havre, Belle Croix les Bruyeres, Trossy St Maximon, Paulliac, Blayes, Fontenay, Le Culot, mining Stettin, Rieme, Russelheim, mining Danzig, Chapelle-Notre-Dame, Stettin, Agenville, Eindhoven, Leeuwarden and Neuss.

P R Taylor’s Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, from 26 April 1943 to 25 October 1945, detailing training and operations as a Navigator (occasionally Bomb Aimer) in the Mediterranean area. Based at: Oudtshoorn (No. 45 Air School), George (No. 61 Air School), RAF Ein Shemer (No. 78 Operational Training Unit), Berka 3, Kalamaki, Grottaglie, Foggia and Luqa (all with No. 38 Squadron). Aircraft flown: Anson, Oxford, Wellington XIII, Wellington XIV, Warwick. Records 30 sorties, including bombing, anti-submarine patrols, armed/offensive reconnaissance, anti-shipping strikes, mine laying, flare illumination, convoy escorts, leaflet dropping and supply drops. Named targets/areas include: Portolargo (Leros Island), Karlovasi Harbour (Samos), Chalcis, Iraklion aerodrome (Crete), Aegean Sea, and Kalamaki. His pilot on operations with 38 Squadron was F/O Webster. On 17 February 1945 he notes “President Roosevelt aboard Cruiser Quincey”.

Aircraft flown in were Halifax and Lancaster, He flew a total of 57 operations including 26 night and 31 day operations with 35 Squadron. Targets were, Kiel, Stuttgart, Caen, Bois de Cassan, Trossy St. Maximin, Acquet, Forêt de Nieppe, Falaise, Le Culot, Stettin, Emden, Le Havre, Wanne Eickel, Calais, Cap Griz Nez, Dortmund, Duisburg, Wilhelmshaven, Essen, Walcheren, Westkapelle, Oberhausen, Gelsenkirchen, Freiburg, Urft dam, Leuna oil plant, Ulm, Cologne, St. Vith, Rheydt, Bonn, Mannheim, Mainz, Dresden, Chemnitz, benzol plant at Borttrod-Stinnes, oil plant at Heide-Hemmingstedt, Gladbeck, Munster, Nordhausen, Hamburg, Bayreuth, Potsdam and Helgoland. His pilot on 56 operations was Flight Lieutenant L B Lawson and for one was Wing Commander L E Good. Raymond Harris was a pilot who flew the Lancaster on 34 operations with No 9 Squadron. The log book runs from 19 September 1942 to 24th August 1945. After his initial flying at the No 9 EFTS at RAF Ansty, flying in the Tiger Moth, Raymond went out to No 32 EFTS RAF Bowden, Alberta, Canada, flying the Stearman and occasionally the Tiger Moth. He remained there until December 1942 when he was posted to No 37 SFTS, Calgary, Alberta to fly the Harvard and occasionally the Anson. He remained there until April 1943 when he graduated and returned to Britain. Raymond was posted to 3 (P) AFU RAF South Cerney, flying the Oxford. He attended a BAT course at No 1532 BAT Flt, RAF Bagdown Farm in August. He was posted to 17 OTU, RAF Silverstone & RAF Turweston, 2 November 1943 to fly the Wellington. In April 1944 he was moved to 1661 HCU at RAF Winthorpe flying the Stirling, until May when he was posted to 5 LFS at RAF Syerstone flying the Lancaster. In May Raymond was posted to 9 Squadron at RAF Bardney flying the Lancaster. He did his first operation to Nantes on the 22 May and his second with his crew to Martin-de-Varreville on the 28 May. He did operations to Ferme D'urville, Point du Hoe, Argentan, Gelsenkirchen, Limoge, Prouville,Vitry le-francois, Creil, Culmont Chalimoray, Vileneuve st George, Stuttgart, Camagnes, Rilly la Montagne, Bois de Cassen, Trossy, Etaples, Lorient, La Pallice, Bordeax, Givorg, Brest, Girzerigen, Karlsruhe, Flushing, Tromso (Tirpitz), Urft Dam, Munich, Bergen, Ijmuiden, Altenbeken, Dortmund-Ems Canal, Sassnitz, Arnsberg, Vlotho, Bremen and Swinemunde. He flew a Cook's Tour and also took part in one of the Post Mortem operations. He was posted to 50 Squadron at RAF Sturgate in June. Served at RAF Dumfries, RAF North Luffenham, RAF Swinderby, RAF Syerston, RAF East Kirkby, RAF Woodhall Spa. Aircraft flown were Tiger Moth, Anson, Botha, Wellington, Lancaster. Carried out a total of 39 operations. One night propaganda leaflet drop with 29 OTU, 11 night operations with 106 Squadron, 11 night operations with 630 Squadron, 9 day and 7 night operations with 617 Squadron. Targets included Paris, Berlin, Nuremberg, München Gladbach, Munich, Kassel, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hannover, Dusseldorf, Toulouse, Saumur Tunnel, Le Havre, Boulogne, Watten, St Omer, Wizernes, Rilly la Montagne, Siracourt, Etaples, Brest. His pilot on operations was Flying Officer Cheney.

Navigator’s, air bomber’s and air gunner’s flying log book for F T Jones, flight engineer, covering the period from 12 December 1943 to 15 September 1945. Detailing his flying training, operations flown and instructor duties. He was stationed at RAF Topcliffe, RAF Tholthorpe and RAF Wombleton. Aircraft flown in were Halifax, Lancaster, Oxford, and Mosquito. He flew a total of 38 operations with 420 Squadron, 9 daylight and 29 night. Targets were Augsburg, Frankfurt, Berlin, Essen, Nuremburg, Paris, Ghent, Lens, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Aulnoye, Somain, St Ghislaine, Louvain, Merville-Franceville, Le Mans, Bourg Leopold, Au-Fiere, Houlgate, Coutance, Cambrai, St Pol, Boulogne, Nouvelle Bois, St Martin, Bientiques, Thiverny, Caen, Fermes de Forestal, <span>Œuf-en-Ternois</span>, Foret de Nieppe, Bois de Cassan, St Leu D’Esserent and La Hague. Four post-war Cook's Tour flights are recorded. His pilots on operations were Flight Sergeant Keegan and Flying Officer Ward.

J S Ross’s pilots flying log book. Two
Pilots flying log book for J S Ross covering the period from 21 January 1943 to 12 March 1946. Detailing his instructor duties, operations flown, flying training and post war duties with 246 Squadron and 511 Squadron. He was stationed at RAF Tatenhill, RAF Grove, RAF Ramsbury, RAF Little Rissington, RAF Windrush, RAF Bruntingthorpe, RAF Bitteswell, RAF Marston Moor, RAF Pocklington, RAF Merryfield, RAF Nutts Corner, RAF Holmsley South and RAF Lyneham. Aircraft flown in were Oxford, Magister, Wellington, Halifax, Stirling, York, Dakota, and Lancaster. He flew a total of 34 operations with 102 Squadron. Targets were St Martin L’Hortier, Domleger, Mimoyecque, Caen, St Nazaire, Hauts Boissons, Stuttgart, Wanne Eickel, Le Foret de Nieppe, La Belle Croix les Eroyerus, Somain, Brunswick, Sterkrade, Lumbres, Venlo, Gelsenkirchen, Buer, Duisburg, Essen, Dusseldorf, Julech, Horten, Hagan, Soest, Osnabruck and Drams Fjord. This item was sent to the IBCC Digital Archive already in digital form. No better quality copies are available.

Covers enlistment and early training in the Royal Australian Air Force. Continues with description of journey to England via the United States and training in England. Lists his crew formed during training. Joined 102 Squadron with Halifax Mk 3 on 12 July 1944 and completed tour 22 January 1944. Lists 36 operational sorties. Goes on to give a detailed description of a typical day's preparation for night bombing raid over Germany.

James Swaffield's navigator's, air bomber's and air gunner's flying log book
Flying log book for navigators, air bomber, air gunners & flight engineers for James Swaffield, navigator, Covering the period from 18 August 1943 to the end of his operations on 5 January 1945 (but logbook certified to 21 April 1945). Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF Husbands Bosworth, RAF Winthorpe, RAF Syerston, RAF Metheringham and RAF Spilsby. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Wellington, Stirling and Lancaster. He flew a total of 30 operations of which 14 were with 106 Squadron and 16 with 44 Squadron. His pilots on operations were Squadron Leader Grindon, Flying Officer Mangos, Flying Officer Lock, and Flying Officer Hayler. Targets were Kiel, St Cyr, Givors, Chahagnes, Rilly la Montagne, La Breteque, Trossy St Maximin, St Leu d'Esserent, Lorient, Chatelleraut, Koningsberg, Mönchengladbach, Stuttgart, Walcheren Island, Brunswick, Bergen, Dusseldorf, Dortmund Ems, Duren, Trondheim, mine laying, Munich, Heilbron, Gdynia, Politz and Royon.
