Luftwaffe dropping fake leaflets
Goebbels-Henriot producing fake leaflets, such as counterfeit ‘Le Courrier de l’Air’ newspapers, dropped allegedly in their millions by the Luftwaffe. French alerted to the dangers of this misinformation, outlined in the article reproduced from the Daily Express (19th April 1944).

Detailing his flying training, operations flown, and post war duties with Empire Air Armament School. He was stationed at SAAF Grahamstown, RAF Millom, RAF Stoney Cross, RAF Brize Norton and RAF Earls Colne. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Oxford, Albemarle, Whitley, Stirling, Halifax and Wellington. He flew a total of 11 operations as ordered with 297 squadron on glider towing duties, these included operation Mullard on D-Day, operation Market Garden and operation Varsity in support of the Rhine crossing. His pilots on operations were Flying Officer Shortman and Flying Officer Milroy.

Recording his training as an air gunner in Canada and England, two completed tours with 142 Squadron RAF based in North Africa, subsequent instructor duties, and operations with 31 Squadron South African Air Force (205 Heavy Bomber Group RAF) based in Italy. He was stationed at RCAF Mont-Joli Quebec (No 9 Bombing & Gunnery School), RAF Edgehill/Shenington (21 Operational Training Unit), RAF Blida (142 Squadron RAF), RAF Castle Kennedy (No 3 Air Gunnery School) and Celone Airfield (Foggia #1, 31 Squadron SAAF). Aircraft in which flown: Battle, Wellington, Dakota, Hudson, Anson, Martinet and Liberator. He also flew 12 night-time operations with 31 squadron SAAF on the following targets in Greece, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, France and Poland: Heraklion, Trieste, Bucharest, Fiume, Fanto oil refinery (Pardubice), Valence airfield, River Danube (‘Gardening’), Szombathely and Warsaw (dropping supplies). <span>His pilots on operations were</span> Sergeant Walkden and Captain Lawrie. He is recorded as missing from the last of these operations. Comments on operations include: 'Aircraft holed 24 times. 2 through my turret'.

H O Cannon’s observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book
Observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book for H O Cannon (1802390) air gunner, covering the period from 29 December 1943 to 3 November 1944 and from 16 October 1952 to 8 October 1953. He was stationed at RAF Moffatt, RAF Qastina, RAF Tortorella, RAF Upwood and RAF Hemswell. Aircraft flown in were, Anson, Wellington, Defiant and Lincoln. He flew a total of 28 operations with 37 Squadron 3 daylight and 25 night and 2 supply drops. Targets were, Brod Basanki, Smederavo, Romsa, Pardubice, Bucharest, Ploesti, Pesaro, Portes les Valences, Szombathely, Kraljevo, Genoa, Marseilles, St. Valentin, Miskolc, Bologna, Ravenna, Rimini, Hegyeashalom, San Benedetto, Borovnica, Tuzla, Ficarolo, Uzice, Klopot. His pilots on operations were Sergeant Reynolds, Major Bayford, Sergeant Merrick and Flight Sergeant Taylor.

Italian and German SS, along with men disguised as partisans, round up civilians at Paluzza

A mountain village is engulfed in flames and the civilians are being shot by soldiers. In the foreground, a man has been shot point blank in the face. Some civilians are holding their arms in the air in surrender and one man is trying to run away.
Label reads “128”; signed by the author; caption reads “CARNIA. Nel pomeriggio del 22 Luglio 1944. SS tedesche e italiane circondano Paluzza e unite a falsi partigiani procede [sic] di casa in casa al rastrellamento. Sotto gli occhi dei loro famigliari 4 uomini sono ridotti in fin di vita con bastonature, calci, morsi, pugnalate. Dopo il sacheggio il reparto ubriaco di sangue e di vino prende la via del ritorno, seminando la strada di altre vittime.”
Caption translates as: “Carnia. On the afternoon of 22 July 1944, the German and Italian SS surrounded the village of Paluzza. Together with those who disguised as partisans, they proceeded with the sweeping, inspecting every house. Four men were beaten half to death in front of their families. They got kicked, bitten, and stabbed. After the raid the unit, drunk with blood and wine, returned home, leaving behind other victims.
