My dear Sweet Pea,
Howdya like ‘at. Well Pet, as usual this will be just another note and I can’t write without my pen which is at present locked in the station intelligence safe along with my wallet and all my worldly wealth.
Ain’t it a pity.
Got back from Lincoln O.K. darling and was pleased with myself for being able to ‘phone you for a change.
But I was disappointed not being able to see you kid. I really mean it because I love you ever so much darling.
While I was in Lincoln I sent a cable to mother and one to my brother wishing him many troubles in the form of little ‘uns or sump’in.
On arriving at Bardney we hopped out the bus and

stopped one of the bods from here to see if Ops. were scrubbed. They weren’t but had they been I would have hopped onto the next bus for Lincoln again. Pronto.
We were stand-by crew tonight as you know and at 1/4 to 10 we were in the mess and all was scrubbed as usual. Down to the canteen in Bardney we goes for a cup of tea and a bun and so back here.
I’ll soon be in bed Pet – Oh hell but didn’t I have an awful night last night. I just couldn’t sleep.
This is all for now Angel and I still love you xx
Night.
All my fondest love and x’s always.
Yrs.

[underlined] 6/7/44 [/underlined]
[page break]
[underlined] ATTACK ON CONSTRUCTIONAL WORKS, MIMOYECQUES. [/underlined]
[underlined] NARRATIVE. [/underlined]
This was the fourth of the Constructional Works targets to be attacked by the Squadron. It lies quite near the coast and some three of four miles north north east of the small town of Marquise.
Nineteen aircraft were detailed. One Mustang, one Mosquito and seventeen Lancasters.
This proved to be another difficult target to find as once again the whole of the target area was littered with craters from previous attacks. However, the Aiming Point was identified and W/Cdr. Cheshire, in the Mustang, marked it with two red T.Is; one was a direct hit and the other fell immediately to the west of the main concrete constructions.
The Bomb Aimers had an exceptionally difficult task in locating the Aiming Point because there was nothing very definite to pick out and because the markers dropped by W/Cdr. Cheshire did not show up at all well in the daylight.
One bomb scored a direct hit at the south east end of the Main Building. This bomb appeared to penetrate into the building and burst inside, making a large, deep crater and causing part of the concrete wall to collapse inwards. Four other bombs fell within 60 yards and one of these was very near to the northern end of the building.
Three of the bombers brought their bombs back to Base. Two because they could not identify the Aiming Point and one because the bomb sight was unserviceable. F/O. Lee's aircraft was hit by flak and he was forced to jettison his bomb in the target area.

[underlined ] INTERPRETATION REPORT. [/underlined]
[underlined] LOCALITY: MARQUISE/MIMOYECQUES. [/underlined]
[underlined] PROVISIONAL STATEMENT ON DAMAGE. [/underlined]
Four deep craters from heavy bombs are seen in the main target area.
One bomb has exploded at the South corner of the main construction causing the corner of the main building over an area of 60 x 35 feet to collapse into the crater and undermining the building at this point. Two other bombs have fallen just North and East of the N.E. end of the building without apparently damaging the main structure, but causing damage to pylons and huts. Seven other large craters are seen in the immediate area of the target.
