He was stationed at RAF Dishforth (1664 HCU), RAF East Moor (432 Sqdn RCAF), RAF Tholthorpe (420 Sqdn RCAF), RAF Nutts Corner (1332 HCU), RAF Stoney Cross (242 Sqdn), RAF Holmsley South (246 Sqdn), RAF Lyneham (511 Sqdn). Aircraft flown in were Halifax, York and Stirling. He flew 36 operations (21 night time and 15 daylight) with 432 and 420squadrons. Targets were Ghent, Paris, Lens, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Essen, Montzen, Somain, Le Clipon, Mont Couple, Neufchatel, Houlgate, Coutances, Mayenne, Cambrai, Hamburg, <span>Œuf-en-Ternois</span>, Foret de Nieppe, Bois de Cassan, St Leu D’Esserent, La Hougue, Foret de Chantilly, Foret de Montrichard, Bons Tassilly, Brussels, Connantre, Marquise-Mimoyecques, Le Havre, Castrop-Rauxel, Osnabruck, Keil, Boulogne, Calais, Bottrop, Sterkrade, Bergen, Dortmund. It also lists his post war flights. His pilots on operations were Pilot Officer Lauzon and Pilot Officer Tease.

Targets were Essen, Somain, Montdidier, Nantes, Montcouple, Foret de Cerisy, Laval, Longues, Fougeres, Lens, Les Hayons, Blainville sur L’Eau, Villers Bocage, Oisemont Neuville, Nucourt, St Philibert Ferme, Colombelles, Mont Candon, Foret du Croc, Les Hauts-Boisson, Stuttgart, Coquereaux, L’Isle Adam and Mare de Magne. Evading capture he returned to the Great Britain by naval vessel on 14 September 1944. His pilots on operations were Squadron Leader Wareing, Wing Commander Dunnecliffe and Pilot Officer Sexton.

George Alexander Mackie’s pilots flying log book. Two
Pilots flying log book two, for George Alexander Mackie, covering the period from 24 September 1943 to 17 February 1946. Detailing his instructor duties, operations flown and post war flying with 46 squadron. He was stationed at RAF Waterbeach, RAF Chedburgh, RAF Downham Market, RAF Tempsford, RAF Sculthorpe, RAF Oulton, RAF Longtown, RAF Nutts Corner, RAF Prestwick and RAF Stoney Cross. Aircraft flown were Stirling, Fortress, Oxford and Liberator. He flew a total of 22 operations with 214 squadron, 23 night and one daylight. Targets were Pertius D’Antioche, Leverkusen, Laeso, St Omer, Cherbourg, Otignies, Tours, Lanveoc-Poulmic, Kiel Bay, Saumer, Sterkrade, Saint Leu D’Esserent, Schouwen Island, Overflakee Island, Brunswick, Frisians, Bremen, Rotterdam, Darmstadt and Eindhoven. The log book also contains photos of himself, aircraft, crews and various sketches.

Arthur Woolf’s flying log book for navigator’s, air bomber’s and air gunner’s
Flying Officer Arthur Woolf’s RAF Navigator’s, Air Bomber’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, from 22nd June 1943 to 24th July 1944, detailing his training and operations as a wireless operator. He was stationed at RAF Yatesbury (No.2 Radio School), RAF Dumfries (10 AFU), RAF Barford St John and RAF Upper Heywood (16 OTU), RAF Wigsley (1654 HCU), RAF Syerston (5 Lancaster Finishing School) and RAF East Kirkby (630 Squadron). Aircraft in which flown: Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster.
He flew a total of 16 operations (14 night, 2 day), the final operation is recorded as “SHOT DOWN - FAILED TO RETURN”, but he survived and became a prisoner of war. Targets in Belgium, France and Germany were: Aunay, Beauvoir, Caen, Calmont, Chalindrey, Courtrai, Creil, Etampes, Forêt de Cerisy, La Pernelle, Maizy, Nevers, Saumur, Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Thiverney and Wesseling. His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Adams.

Herbert Tinning’s Royal Australian Air Force Observer’s Air Gunner’s And W/T Operator’s Flying Log Book
Herbert Tinning’s Royal Australian Air Force Observer’s Air Gunner’s And W/T Operator’s Flying Log Book from 25th August 1942 to 11th March 1945. Recording his training as a navigator in Australia and Great Britain and a full tour of operations with 51 squadron, followed by a short period with 96 squadron (Transport Command). He was based at RAAF Cootamundra, RAAF Sale, RAAF Nhill, RAF Desford, RAF West Freugh, RAF Lichfield, RAF Church Broughton, RAF Marston Moor, RAF Snaith and RAF Leconfield. Aircraft in which flown: Anson, Battle, Tiger Moth, Wellington and Halifax. He flew 40 operations (19 day, 19 night, 2 abandoned/recalled) on the following targets in Belgium, France and Germany: Alencon, Boulogne, Brest, Caen (Emieville), Calais, Cape Griz Nez, Chateaudon, Collines-Beaumont, Croixdalle, Essen, Foret de Nieppe, Hannover, Haringzelles, Hasselt, Herquelingue, Homberg, Kiel, Kleves, Le Grand Rossignol, Le Havre, Les Catelliers, Marquise, Mont Fleury, Morsalines, Neuss (Dusseldorf), Oisemont, Siracourt, St Martin L’hortier, Sterkrade, Stuttgart, Trappes, Villers Bocage, Wilhemshaven and Wizernes. His pilot on operations was Flight Sergeant Moore. On 6th June 1944 he notes: “‘D’ DAY OPENING OF SECOND FRONT”. In October 1944 he notes “AWARDED - DFC”.

Wireless operators flying log book for Richard Franklin covering the period from 17th February 1943 to 19th July 1946. Detailing his flying training, operations flown and instructor duties. He was stationed at RAF Madely (4 Radio School), RAF Wigtown (1(O)AFU), RAF Honeybourne (24 OTU), RAF Topcliffe (1659 HCU), RAF Leeming (427 Squadron), RAF Atherstone, RAF Wellesbourne Mountford (22 OTU), RAF Wymeswold (108 OTU), RAF Membury (525 Squadron), RAF Stoney Cross (46 Squadron). Aircraft flown in were, Dominie, Proctor, Botha, Anson, Whitley, Halifax, Wellington, Dakota. He flew a total 30 operations (all night-time) with 427 squadron. His aircraft was attacked by an Me 109. the aircraft was damaged and crash landed at RAF Lakenheath. Targets were Hanover, Kassel, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Essen, Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Le Bourget, Lens, Saint-Valery-en-Caux, Ghent, Boulogne, Louvain, Le Clipit, Aachen, Bourg Leopold, Au Fevre, Merville, Conde-Sur-Noireau, Archeres, Arras. His pilot on operations was Flying Officer Weldon DFC. The log book also lists his post war RAF flights.

Keith Thompson's flying log book
Flying log book for Keith Thompson covering his two periods of service as a navigator from 23 August 1942 to 28 March 1946 and post war from 12 September 1950 to 27 April 1960. The entries cover his training in Canada, advanced training on his return to Britain, converting to the Lancaster and a first tour on 101 Squadron, his rest tour and then 12 operations on the Halifax with 199 Squadron undertaking Radio Counter Measure operations. His post war flying was initially as a bombing instructor and then with Coastal Command on the Shackleton. This period included three round trips to Christmas Island for operation 'Grapple'. Units served at include No 1 AOS at RCAF Malton, 15 AFTS at RAF Carlisle, No 4 AOS at RAF West Freugh, 28 OTU at RAF Wymswold, RAF Castle Donington and RAF Bircotes, 1662 HCU at RAF Blyton, 101 Squadron at RAF Ludford Magna, 30 OTU at RAF Hixon, 1659 HCU at RAF Topcliffe, 199 Squadron at RAF North Creake, 192 Squadron at RAF Foulsham, RWE at RAF Watton, RAF Shawbury, CGS at RAF Leconfield, 2 ANS at RAF Thorney Island, 6 ANS at RAF Lichfield, 236 OCU at RAF Kinloss, 206 Squadron at RAF St Eval and St Mawgan and Coastal Command Communication Flight at RAF Bovingdon. Aircraft in which flown, Anson in Canada Mk unknown, Mk 19 & 21, Tiger Moth, Wellington 1c, X and T10, Halifax II and III, Lancaster I and III, B17 Fortress, Valletta, Varsity, Shackleton I and II. His pilots on operations were Pilot Officer Corkill, Wing Commander Alexander and Pilot Officer Sharples. Operations carried out against Berlin, Frankfurt, Stettin, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Schweinfurt, Essen, Nurnburg, Aulnoye, Rouen, Koln, Bois de Maintenon, Lyon, Hasselt, Orleans, Duisburg, Brunswick, Aachen, Trappes on his first tour and was awarded the DFC. He did 12 RCM Operations on his second tour and two Cook's Tours. The log book has the usual comments about weather and unusual sightings and events.

Reg Manning's observer's and air gunner's flying log book
The Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Log Book covering the period 15 June 1941 to the 16 August 1963. Manning qualified first as an Air Gunner on the 4 July 1941 and second as a flight engineer on the 1 September 1941. He was commissioned on the 4 July 1943 as a Pilot Officer and promoted to acting Flight Lieutenant in April 1944, and again to acting Squadron Leader in March 1946. He reverted to Flight Lieutenant in April 1947 but was made substantive Squadron Leader in April 1956 in the Engineering Branch. He retired 16 August 1963. There are very few entries relating to his time as a Gunner. Most entries are as Engineer. Detailing his flying training, operations flown and instructor duties. He was stationed at RAF Staverton, RAF Wymeswold, RAF Lindholme, RAF Waltham (RAF Grimsby), RAF Blyton and RAF Sandtoft. Aircraft flown in were, Anson, Wellington, Halifax and Lancaster. He completed a total of 29 night operations with 100 Squadron. Targets were, Braunschweig, Berlin, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Schweinfurt, Augsburg, Frankfurt, Essen, Nurnburg, Danzig, Alnoye, Pomermia bay, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Dieppe, Wilhelmshaven, Duisberg, Dortmund, Dunkirk, Merville, Tergnier, Crisbecq and Vire. <span>His pilot on operations was</span><span> </span>Flight Lieutenant Hamilton.

Navigator's, air bomber's and air gunner's flying log book for Jack Warner, flight engineer. Covering the period from 2 July 1943 to 28 January 1945. Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF Topcliffe, RAF Leeming, RAF Croft, RAF Middleton St George and RAF St Athan. Aircraft flown in were, Halifax and C-47. He flew a total of 37 night operations with 428 squadron. Targets were, Montlucon, Modane, Hannover, Kassel, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Kiel, Oslo, Brest, Meulan le Mureaux, Lille, le Havre, Rostock, Laon, Cherbourg, Villeneuve, Morlaix, Morlaye, Borcum, Heligoland, Mont Couple, Dunkirk, Merville and Coutances. His pilot on operations was Pilot Officer Sinclair. Notes on the last pages of the log book discuss his operations on 5 and 6 June 1944 and the hazards of minelaying.

Donald Cochrane’s observer's and air gunner's flying log book
Observer's and air gunner's flying log book for Donald Cochrane from 10 January 1944 to 31 August 1944. Detailing training schedule, instructional duties and operations flown. Served at RAF Stradishall, RAF Feltwell, RAF Binbrook and RAF Seighford. Aircraft flown were Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington, Stirling and Lancaster. He carried out a total of 29 operations, including two day light operations as a wireless operator with 460 Squadron to the following targets in Belgium, France, and Germany: Schweinfurt, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Essen, Nuremburg, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Friedrichshafen, Maintenon, Lyons, Mailly, Rennes, Hasselt, Heligoland Bight, Le Clipton, EU Field Battery, Ternier, Bern-Eval-Legrand, St Martin, Vire Railway Bridge, Cerisy Road Junction, Paris, Evreux, Gelsenkirchen, Le Havre and Boulogne. His pilots on operations were Flying Officer Legget and Pilot Officer Mullins. The log book is well annotated and also contains cuttings of pictures of aircraft.
