My darling Mummy and Daddy.
I hope you are quite well and happy. I am quite well and happy and so is Stevie. Excuse me writing in pencil. Thank you for the letters of this week. We are sending 50 or 57, pieces of silver paper this week. It was a holiday on thursday, [sic] and it was the singing competition, we did not get the junior or senior cup. Dowhill got the junior cup, and queenshill the [deleted] second [/deleted] seniors, [deleted] wa [/deleted] their was a different cup in the seniors for the boys and Victory won it, I don’t know how they beat us! Yesterday we played Victory for the meutan cup and they

beat us 1-0, that means they have got the meutan cup as well. One of the boys shot from out of the ring and the ball hit the post and went behind the line and then one of their boys ran in and shot when it was behind the line, and the goal linesman waved the flag but the referee gave it as a goal. The choir went to tea and the pictures on Thursday [sic] and I saved stevie [sic] some stuff, the pictures was called the leopard lady, it was a very nice piece. I am sending a snapshot of my self in sports kit and a negative in case you want it enlarged. It has come out quite nicely. [deleted] F [/deleted] [inserted] we [/inserted] are sending [deleted] [indecipherable word] [/deleted] a programme of the singing competition as well.

[Schools addresses]
There are only 15 days left to come home. We are having a farewell concert on the 17th and the prize Distribution on the 15th. Are the michaels [sic] staying in Ashuganj for the holidays. Mummy it wasn’t my fault for not taking the theory exam up, I wanted too [sic] but Miss Shaluetun said no. We do not require new suits because our kit us properly but we might need a pair of shoes each because we only have on [sic] pair each and Stevie’s is going at the toe. Please bring Daddy’s gun licence to callcutta [sic] so that you can get our winchesters [sic] in his name, because we might not be able to get them without a licence.

Stevie says his paper was not a hard one. Mr Chapin who took the exam said that he did not make any mistakes. I am ending now with lots of love and kisses from your loving
