The collection concerns Flight Sergeant David Adrian Boldy (1918 – 1942, 923995 Royal Air Force) and consists of his school reports, letters from school and photographs of family and locations in India, letters from training and service, and photographs from his social life and time training. It also includes newspaper cuttings and letters about him being missing in action. David Boldy was born and attended school in India and studied law at Kings College London. He volunteered for the Royal Air Force and trained as an air gunner in South Africa. He flew operations in Manchesters and Lancasters with 207 Squadron from RAF Bottesford. His aircraft failed to return from an operation to Gdańsk 11 July 1942. <br /><br />The collection has been donated to the IBCC Digital Archive by David Boldy and catalogued by IBCC Digital Archive staff.<br /><br />Additional information on David Boldy is available via the <a href="https://internationalbcc.co.uk/losses/102182/">IBCC Losses Database</a>.

I hope you are quite well and happy. I am quite well and happy and so is Stevie. I have still got about 10 envopes [sic] left. Our team played another team the score was 4 all. We have still got play-box annuel [sic] and [deleted] cassells [/deleted] cassels children's annuel. [sic] I am still reading Robinson Crusoe. I am going to save up my money two annes every week and buy you and Daddy a present each. What would you like and ask Daddy what he would like and tell me please.?. I hope you are quite well and happy. I am quite well and happy and so is Stevie. Thank you for those envlopes [sic] you sent us. I got 72 for the English test. My friend Dawson still sits with me at letter writing class. I bought from Miss Robinson 2 blue ink tablets and a rilief [sic] nib for both thinks [sic] it cost one anna. I will try and work hard and get lots of marks for my tests the last few tests I I [sic] got 78 77 62 and marks like that I will try and keep it up. I hope Pompom and Dorje are quite well ask uncle scrob [sic] how Pluto is I hope he is quite well too. We are [deleted] go [/deleted] going to a party today all havelock house in upper prep when Miss Humphries was here we came first in class so she is taking us for a party today in her room. I hope you are quite well and happy. I am quite well and happy and so is Stevie. We had a match. Their score was 1 and our score was 2. We get our comics every wednesday. [sic] I got 59 for a Geogaprhy [sic] test and 72 for a French test. Please send up these books “Robinson Crusoe” Ivanho” [sic] and the two history books? I will try and write a long letter. I will write you and Daddy a letter on Sunday. We are going to have a test and we are having William the first William the second Henry the first and Stephen they are all Kings. It rains a lot. We play [deleted] f [/deleted] foot-ball. We have got our books still [deleted] pal [/deleted] playbox annu [inserted] a [/inserted] l and Cassels childrens’ [sic] annual.
