Covering the period 3 December 1941 to 1945 it details Jack's initial training, sailing from New Zealand to Canada and subsequent train journey, visiting a fox farm, canoeing, taking exams and getting the results and trips in the snow. Qualifying as a wireless operator and travel to Britain on the RMS Mauretania, the continuation of training, posting to 50 Squadron and marriage to Edna. Provides details of 28 operations to Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway and Russia including Houffalize, Brux, Boulogne, Le Havre, Bremen, Brunswick, Dortmund-Ems canal, Darmstadt, Gravenholst, Harburg oil refinery, Heilbronn, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Wilhelmshaven, Flushing, Trondheim and Koningsberg. It includes a leave pass, berthing card, travel map, sketches, photograph and other memorabilia.

300 more American warships are now protecting shipping routes following President Roosevelt’s order on 12 September. Numbers of vessels in American navy at the outbreak of war are listed and the number will steadily increase.
William Sebold, a double agent for 18 months, testified against 16 German spies in New York on 8th September. 11 had given full confessions and a further 17 had been recently arrested. The Gestapo provided him with the names and addresses of their spies in the United States.

Provides information on damage to parts of Cologne, which it claims, the German authorities do not wish to share.
The military situation is said to be a barometer for the military situation; falling share prices are linked to the start of the Russian campaign.
German losses said to be five times higher than First World War and a hundred times more than in 1870-1871, countering [Joseph] Goebbels’s claim that the losses are ‘quite normal’.
Blames Herr Walter Funk [Reich Minister for Economic Affairs, President of the Reichsbank] for the huge increase in bank note circulation. Article mocks his monetary theory and concludes he should be held accountable.
Britain now sending aircraft and military equipment to Russia, showing it is strong enough to prevent any invasion. Hitler will still want to invade, which is why the RAF has conducted operations against German and Axis ships. The first conference of the three global powers [America, Britain and Russia] to take place in Moscow.
Feud between Wilhelm Kube and Goebbels goes back to 1924. Kube is about to become Commissioner General for Belarus. Kube is said to be in the ascendancy, whilst Goebbels and Walter Darré, Reich Minister of Food and Agriculture, are becoming less significant.

Goes on with daily entries describing activities mentioning food, lessons, sport, weather, rifle training, social activities and physical training. Mentions visit to Sylvester. Transfers to Arcadia, Florida 22 February. Starts flying training at end of February. Continues with description of ground school, flying and other daily activities. Mentions visit to Sarasota. Failed pilot flight check on 24 March 1942 an was sent back to Moncton, Canada. Entries for a few days activities and entries then peter out for April and May and then cease.

Writes that he had been so busy he had little time to write letters and catch up with all his mail. Asks after Bill's work and comments on petrol rationing in Canada. Mentions although it was expensive to travel by train but he was seeing plenty of the country. Writes he was settling into his new life and that his new course would last 14 weeks and would include lecturing. Says he had a good time in New York before returning to Toronto. He was then to report to new station for instructors course after which he wold be sent to another school. Comments that he will not like the winter there.
