Caption translates as: “September 1943. Following the armistice, British prisoners are on the run after having escaped from the concentration camp of Torviscosa (Udine province). They camp under improvised tents, weary of German mop-ups. In the Corgnolo wood, they are lovingly fed by locals, who show their kind and generous disposition .”

On a clear winter’s day, a bridge on a railway line has been bombed. There is a village nearby where the telegraph poles have come down. In the foreground, a branch of the canal forks off to the left and a boat is moored at the side. Two aircraft are swooping over the site of the explosion and the aircraft descending is releasing two more bombs. In the distance, five other aircraft are visible.

Two aircraft attack an industrial complex surrounded by a canal. An explosion has occurred behind one of the two main buildings. Flames and smoke can be seen whilst the bombing aircraft ascends into the sky. The second aircraft is flying towards the observer. The rest of the complex appears undamaged. On the canal to the right of the picture, a barge is moored next to a crane.
