Flying log book for Bill Chubb, flight engineer covering the period from 12 September 1944 to 2 May 1945. Detailing his flying and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF St Athan, RAF Topcliffe (1659 HCU) and RAF East Moor (432 Sqn). Aircraft flown in were Halifax Mk 2, Mk 3 and Mk 5. He flew a total of 19 night-time and 6 daylight operation (total 25), plus one early return, all with 432 Squadron. Targets were Cologne, Bochum, Castrop-Rauxel, Neuss, Duisburg, Hagen, Karlsruhe, Osnabruck, Hanau, Saarbrucken, Grevenbroich, Magdeburg, Wanne-Eickel, Bohlen, Chemnitz, Manheim, Worms, Essen, Kamen, Mainz, Harburg, Leipzig and Keil. His pilot on operations was Squadron Leader Miller.

Flying log book for D Moore, navigator, covering the period from 5 June 1943 to 13 June 1947. Detailing his flying training, operations flown, instructor duties and post war flying with 52 Squadron and civilian flying with Silver City Airlines. He was stationed at RCAF Rivers, RAF Wigtown, RAF Chipping Warden, RAF Edgehill (aka RAF Shenington), RAF Chedburgh, RAF Feltwell, RAF Methwold, RAF Mildenhall, RAF Crosby-on-Eden and RAF Dum-Dum. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster, Dakota, York, Sunderland and Lancastrian. He flew a total of 33 operations, 6 daylight, 4 night with 218 squadron and 14 daylight, 9 night with 15 squadron. His pilots on operations were Squadron Leader Macfarlane and Flight Lieutenant Percy. Targets were Boulogne, Neuss, Cap Gris Nez, Calais, Duisburg, Wilhelmshaven, Stuttgart, Essen, Westkapelle, Solingen, Schwammenual Dam, Merseburg, Kattegat, Cologne, Vohwinkler, Dortmund, Munich, Saarbrucken, Wanne Eickel, Hohenbudberg, Wesel, Gelsenkirchen, Bochult, Hallendorf, Kiel and Berlin.

Flying log book for flight engineers for T Knox, covering the period from 30 January 1944 to 17 January 1947. Detailing his flying training, operations flown and post war duties as a parachute instructor. He was stationed at RAF Stradishall, RAF Lakenheath, RAF Methwold, RAF North Creake, RAF Finningly, RAF Sealand, RAF Ringway, RAF Cosford, RAF Upper Heyford and RAF Aqir. Aircraft flown in were, Stirling, Halifax, Lancaster, Dakota and Horsa Glider. He flew a total of 40 operations, 21 with 149 Squadron, 2 daylight and 19 night time operations, of which 9 were special operations to France, and 19 night time operations with 199 Squadron carrying out radio counter measure support of bombing operations. Targets were, Lille, Laon, Kiel Bay, Frisian Islands, St Malo, Brest, Pas de Calais, North Sea, Brussels, Saarbrucken, Sylt, Wilhelmshaven, Mönchengladbach, Koblenz, Zuider Sea, Trier, Strasbourg, Duisberg, Wiesbaden, Gavet and Munster. His pilots on operations were Flight Lieutenant Coventry and Flight Sergeant Millar. This item was sent to the IBCC Digital Archive already in digital form. No better quality copies are available.

Aircraft from 153 Squadron at Scampton. Describes crew and some history of the aircraft "P" Peter. Goes on to describe operation in detail from briefing, through the flight with navigation details, bombing and return to base. Saw no sign of Luftwaffe during operation. Relates aircraft being hit on previous operation to Politz. Comments on having to do two very long sorties on successive nights. Relate later operation to Duisburg and seeing 5 Lancaster go down after being hit by fighters or anti aircraft fire. States what they were told of reason for Dresden operation. At the end gives a list of operations. Includes a separate copy of last page with list of operations.

Account of operations
Mention action on getting caught in searchlights, effects of altitude on aircrew, avoiding bombs from above, encounters with B-17 while on operations and getting a bottle of Bourbon from the American crew later. Mentions encounter with probable Mosquito, operation to Kiel Canal, friendly aircraft being attacked on return to base, conditions while flying, clothing, operating procedures, briefing and post flight debrief. Describes ground crew and work they did. Concludes with comments on summer operations and that he took notes on each operation of routes and times. Pages numbered. 29, 30, 31 and 2,3 and 4.

Description of operational flying
Writes of being given their own aircraft with nude lady nose art which survived the war. Mentions icing problem on operation to Saarbrücken. Describes operation to Frankfurt where engaged by Ju-88 where he injured his jaw. Writes that they learn as much about each others jobs as possible and mentions that he had to land his aircrfat three times and navigating for a whole trip. Recounts other operations to Kiel Canal and Aire when they hit downdraft which damaged their aircraft as well as landing back with bombs from Frankfurt and Saarbrücken. Continues with description of keeping lookout for enemy aircraft, flying clothing , escape equipment and crew activities on operations. Writes about ground crew and their activities and more about his actions and incidents during operations, including an airborne encounter with a B-17 and subsequent arrival of a bottle of Bourbon from the American crew. Concludes with other incidents and comments about operations.
