Dear Joan,
Bert said that he was going to write to you, but has gone out. Whether he has done so or not, I feel that I must send you a few lines, to tell you of our deep sorrow when we heard the sad news that Bob is missing.
We truly sympathise with you in this anxious time, & trust that you will soon be receiving news, that he is safe, no matter where. He was such a competent pilot, that I feel sure, if there was a chance of bringing his aircraft to land, he would succeed.
All your friends at Crowle await further news, & pray that it will not be long before you can give word that he has come through.
With love & kindest thoughts from us all
Yrs sincerely
Amy Gamidge.
