Allen Gould’s navigator’s, air bomber’s and air gunner’s flying log book
Navigator’s, air bomber’s and air gunner’s flying log book for A G Gould, flight engineer, covering the period from 30 July 1943 to 13 April 1945. Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF Stradishall, RAF Chedburgh and RAF Leicester East. Aircraft flown in was Stirling. He flew a total of 29 operations with 620 squadron, 24 Night and 5 daylight. Listed targets were Borkum, Mannheim, Caen, and Arnhem. His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Murray. The other operations were described as needed and involved the Special Air Service or the Special operations Executive, operation Tonga and operations to Norway and Sweden.

Andrew Bain's observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book
Covers the period from 26 June 1942 until August 1943. In June 1946 stamped by the RAF Central Depository ‘Death Presumed’. He qualified as an air gunner on the 31 October 1942 and as an observer on the 9 October 1942. He identifies his flying duties as bomb aimer, bombardier, navigator u/t, navigator, acting navigator, photography. He was based at RAF Oudtshoorn, and Port Alfred, South Africa, for training and then for operational training at RAF Cottesmore, then at RAF Waterbeach and finally with 75 New Zealand Squadron at RAF Mepal. Operationally he took part dropping mines off the north Dutch coast and bombing Hamburg, Essen, Nuremberg and Turin. He flew with the following pilots; Dold, Scott, Wessells, Harper, Oughton, Fenwick, Allan, Puntis, Charles, Jackson, De Clerk, Maxfield, Termorshuizen, Brooks, Scott, Jackson, Norton, Grieff, Meter, Le Seuer, Levine, Gillett, Geotzee, Tucker, Van Niekerk while training in South Africa. In the UK he flew with Klim, Tricks, Maxwell, Freeman, Fern, Quinton, Fear, Crouch, Halgro, Smith, McLoughlan, Biley, Youseman, Boyd, Lofthouse, and Patrick. His pilot on operations was Sergeant Fear. He flew in the following aircraft; Avro Anson, Airspeed Oxford, Vickers Wellington and Short Stirling. As part of his UK training he identifies 'Infra Red Bombing'. On some of the training flights he states that he was 'Nav (B)Acting Air Bomber'. Also trained on autopilot 'George'. The last recorded flight was on the 23 August 1943.

He was stationed at RAF Manby (1 AAS), RAF Watchfield (1 Beam Approach School), RAF Squires Gate (3 School of General Reconnaissance), RAF Benbecula (304 Squadron), RAF Silloth (6 (Coastal) OTU), RAF Crosby-on-Eden (1383 (Transport) CU), RAF Chedburgh (304 Squadron) and RAF Topcliffe (1 ANS). Aircraft flown in were Blenheim, Wellington, Oxford, Anson, Dakota, Warwick and Halifax. He flew eight North Atlantic anti-submarine sweeps with 304 Squadron. His pilots on operations were Flight Sergeant Micel and Squadron Leader Krzepisi/Kazepisi.

Navigators, air bombers, air gunners and flight engineers flying log book for Archie Henry Halliday from 30 August 1944 to 10 April 1945 detailing his training and operational duties. Training was with No.4 S of TT at RAF St. Athan and Heavy Conversion Units at RAF Lindholme and RAF Bottesford. All operations were flown with 101 Squadron with Flight Officer Withenshaw as pilot. Archie took part in 31 operations, on which 25 night operations in which he flew as engineer. The operations were to Karlsruhe, Osnabrück, Ludwigshafen, Ulm, Coblenz, Bonn, Büer, Osterfeld, Nürenburg, Merseburg, Duisburg, Zuffenhausen, Mannheim, Weisbaden, Kleves, Pforzheim, Cologne, Chemnitz, Dessau, Kassel, Essen, Dortmund, Misburg, Hanau, Langendreer, Bremen, Hanover and Paderborn in Germany and Brüx in Czechoslovakia.

He was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford, RAF Upavon, RAF Netheravon, RAF Sealand, RAF Debden, RAF Bicester and RAF Swanton Morley. Aircraft flown in were Hind, Tiger Moth, Audax, Tutor, Hart, Fury, Magister, Anson, Wallace, Oxford, Vildebeest, Gladiator, Hurricane, Demon, Walrus, Blenheim, Battle, Halifax, Harvard, Leopard Moth, Proctor, Hornet Moth and Master. He served with 218 Squadron, Central Flying School, 108 Squadron, 104 Squadron and 13 Operational Training Unit before being posted to 105 Squadron for operations. He flew 11 night operations before failing to return. His log book is stamped 'Death presumed'. The only targets identified are Boulogne, 'aerodromes' and Hamburg. The rest are simply marked 'operations'. The book contains <span>the maiden flight of L7244,</span> the prototype Halifax with test pilot Major Cordes on 25 October 1939. </p>

A J Tindall’s log book covering the period from March 1942 to 6 November 1945. Detailing his flying training and operations flown as wireless operator/air gunner. He was stationed at RAF Yatesbury (2 RS), RAF Mona (5 AGS), RAF Cottesmore (14 OTU), RAF Wigsley (1654 HCU), RAF Upwood (PFNTU), RAF Bourn and RAF Coningsby (97 Squadron). Aircraft flown in were Dominie, Botha, Wellington, Lancaster, Stirling, Anson and Proctor. He flew a total of 30 night operations with 97 Squadron (first Tour) and 10 night and 2 day operations with 97 Squadron (second tour), a total of 42. Targets were Stuttgart, Hannover, Berlin, Leipzig, Cologne, Frankfurt, Brunswick, Augsburg, Laon, Munich, Schweinfurt, Kjeller, L’Isle Adam, Brest, Argentan, Etampes, Poitiers, Gelsenkirchen, Prouville, Donge and Givors. His pilots on operations were Sergeant Johnson, Squadron Leader Cawdery, Flight Lieutenant Clarke and Wing Commander Ingham.

Flying Officer Arthur Woolf’s RAF Navigator’s, Air Bomber’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, from 22nd June 1943 to 24th July 1944, detailing his training and operations as a wireless operator. He was stationed at RAF Yatesbury (No.2 Radio School), RAF Dumfries (10 AFU), RAF Barford St John and RAF Upper Heywood (16 OTU), RAF Wigsley (1654 HCU), RAF Syerston (5 Lancaster Finishing School) and RAF East Kirkby (630 Squadron). Aircraft in which flown: Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster.
He flew a total of 16 operations (14 night, 2 day), the final operation is recorded as “SHOT DOWN - FAILED TO RETURN”, but he survived and became a prisoner of war. Targets in Belgium, France and Germany were: Aunay, Beauvoir, Caen, Calmont, Chalindrey, Courtrai, Creil, Etampes, Forêt de Cerisy, La Pernelle, Maizy, Nevers, Saumur, Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Thiverney and Wesseling. His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Adams.

Record of training navigation star and sun sights from ground and air between April 1943 and February 1944. Locations April to July 1943 at 24 bombing gunnery and navigation school at Moffat Southern Rhodesia on Anson aircraft. December 1943 at No 23 air observers school at RAF Millom and January and February 1944 at 15 OTU RAF Harwell. Flying log book for B Openshaw, Navigator, covering the period from 2 April 1943 to 6 July 1946. Detailing his flying training, Operations flown and post war flying with East African communications flight. He was stationed at RAF Moffat, RAF Harwell, RAF Oakley, RAF Westcott, RAF Foggia, RAF Aqir and RAF Eastleigh. Aircraft flown in were, Anson, Oxford, Wellington, Hudson, Mosquito, Curtis Commando and Dakota. He flew a total of 23 operations with 104 squadron, 6 Daylight, 6 night bombing operations and 11 supply drops. His pilot on operations was Flying Officer Chadwick. Targets were, Zagreb, Zsombachely, Sarajevo, Vicenza, Novi Pazar, Latisana, Klopot, Majevo, Matesavo, Piave, Cromelt, Circhina, Tuzla and Trieste.

Flying log book for navigators, air bombers, air gunners, flight engineers for B W Allen, air gunner, covering the period from 15 April 1944 to 1 June 1945. Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF Pembrey, RAF Turweston, RAF Silverstone, RAF Swinderby, RAF Syerston and RAF Spilsby. Aircraft flown in were, Anson, Wellington, Stirling and Lancaster. He flew a total of 20 Operations with 207 squadron, 3 daylight and 17 night operations. Targets were, Dortmund Ems canal, Royan, Brux, Siegen, Karlsruhe, Ladbergen, Politz, Dresden, Rositz, Bohlen, Gravenhorst, Essen, Wurzburg, Wesel, Nordhausen, Molbis, Lutzkendorf and Cham. His pilot on operations was Flying Officer Howard. The log book also contains a poppy leaf dropped from the Lancaster at the opening of the Green Park Memorial.

His pilots on operations were Flight Sergeant Taylor, Flight Sergeant Mills and Warrant Officer White. This item was sent to the IBCC Digital Archive already in digital form.
