My Dearest Darling,
Well here it comes at last darling. It has’nt [sic] been too long has it? I have written to you twice before, one from the train. and one from the boat. I also sent you a cablegram when I arrived in Canada. I hope you received them all. I wish I could tell you all about the journey we had, but I’m afraid that is impossible just yet. I’ll tell you all abot it when I come back. I’m sure you will be surprised when I tell you where we landed.
We arrived here in the middle of a thunderstorm. and we got soaking wet on the way to the camp. I thought they only had heavy rain in Aber. [sic] I have seen parts of the town already. It looks pleasant enough, but there’s too many cadets here to be comfortable. It’s built of wood entirely by the way, but there’s not much difference between it and the towns back home, exept [sic] that they are all lit up by night, and stay open longer.
I’m afraid that’s all for now darling. I’ll write again soon and wait patiently for your letter. I love you as much as ever and I miss you terribly.
Your sweetheart.

My Dearest Darling,
Well I’m back at work again darling, after a mervelous [sic] 4 days leave, and a very merry Christmas at Winnipeg. Please forgive me darling for not writing sooner we forgot to take any writing material with us, and we could not get any in Winnipeg as everything was closed all the time we were there. I imagine that a lot of the
[page break]
other boys did the same too judging by the number writing in here tonight. We had a really good time at Christmas. I went with two of my pals. We had a place to stay through the Y.M.C.A. we stayed with [deleted] indecipherable word [/deleted] an old English couple in the heart of the city. They were really nice to us they made us feel quite at home, and we had a super Christmas dinner there. I’m sure I could’nt have had a better dinner at home, but I’m sure of one thing. I would have had a better Christmas if I could have shared it with you darling. I missed you more than ever. I was thinking of you all the time, and thinking what kind of Christmas you were having at home and the things you might be doing. I’m sure you felt the same darling, but never mind we shall spend the next Christmas together and what fun we’ll have. By the way I’m keeping your Christmas present until I come home. I was afraid of sending it to you in case it got lost or damaged in the Christmas rush. I hope you do’nt [sic] mind. What sort of Christmas did you have darling? I hope you had a happy one. You did’nt [sic] eat too much like we did did you? I’m longing to hear from you darling. I hav’nt [sic] heard for quite a while. I expect I’ll hear tomorrow though. Please forgive me if I do'nt [sic] write often enough darling. We have so much to do on this course and we’ll be busier still now to make up for this leave. There’s only 6 more weeks to the end of the course now darling. You’ll get plenty of letters from me then. I’ll have more time off - I hope. Well the flying is still going pretty well. I have done nearly 100 hrs [sic] here now, but we still have a lot to do though. They tell us we should be off the station by the first week in February though. I hope its [sic] true. I’m longing so much to see you again darling. I wish this war would end soon, then I could be with you always, and share everything with you darling. I’m longing to see you in white again.
[page break]
I’m afraid that’s all for now darling. I have to go and do some work before I go to bed. We’re not night flying tonight luckilly [sic]. I’m really tired after the twelve hour train journey from Winnipeg.
Think of me sometimes darling. Keep on waitnig [sig] patiently. I love you more than ever and ʹam [sic] always thinking of you whatever I do.
Your darling
Dave

My. Dearest Darling,
You must be wondering what has happened to me. since I have not written for quite a while. You can see I have changed my address again. I have travelled a long way since I wrote last, about 2,000 miles in fact. It took us over four days to reach this station. You can imagine how tired we were when we arrived here. We arrived yesterday afternoon. I must say I do’nt [sic] think much of the station. We are deep in the heart of the prairies, miles from anywhere. I do’nt [sic] know why they call the station Assiniboia, because the town of Assiniboia is twelve miles away. The nearest village is nearly four miles away, and there is only one shop there and less than half a dozen houses. We have plenty of work to do on the station though, we are going to be very busy while we are here. We stopped a few times on the way here - Montreal Ottowa, [sic] Regina, and we stopped in Moose Jaw for a night. the journey was altogether very interesting. I’ll have such a lot to tell you when I come back. I wish you could have been out here with me darling. I miss you so very much, and love you as much as ever. You are always in my thoughts. Be patient w’ont [sic] you darling?
Longing to hear from you.
Your darling Dave.

My Dearest Darling,
Well I’m still waiting patiently for a letter darling, but I expect I’ll hear before you receive this. It seems such a long time since I heard from you. I would give anything just to receive a letter just now. I miss you ever so much. It w’ont [sic] be long before I’m back though. I’m hoping to be back by the end of January. I sha’nt [sic] be here [underlined] more [/underlined] than eight weeks, and there is no waiting to be done between E.F.T.S and S.F.T.S. We were very lucky to be posted so quickly from Moncton. It’s raining heavily here today, - the first drop of rain we’ve had since we’ve been here. I have done more than twelve hours flying by now including 2 hours solo. That means I’m safe now until my 20 hour test. One of the Aberites [sic] was taken off the couse [sic] this week [deleted] before [/deleted] because he failed to solo before 10 hours. So that brings us down to three of the old gang left now, on this station anyway. I went to the station cinema on Wednesday to see "Pardon my Sarong". I had seen it twice before. I enjoyed it all the same though. I am going tomorrow again to see "Cabin in the Sky". I still hav’nt [sic] been to Assiniboia. I hav’nt [sic] been out of camp in fact, we have some much to do at night, - I mean swatting. [sic] The course is much harder than I thought it would be. I think I can manage it though. The trouble is we have such a lot to do in a short time. We get some time off for recreation though. I’ve just come back from the drill hall after a game of ping-pong. It made me think of you, when I was in there and the fun we had together. There’s a Juke Box in there, and they played a record of Dearly Beloved on it. Do you remember when you used to sing it SO [sic] often? I told Nappy [sic] that it was your favourire song, and funnily enough he said that was his girl friend‘s favourite song. I’m afraid that’s all this time darling. Think of me sometimes o [sic] remember I love you so very much.
Your darling.
Dave

My Dearest Darling,
Well darling I have received your letters at last. I received twelve letters yesterday. Was I glad? It took me nearly two hours to read them all. I had ten from you and two from home. I have read them over a few times since then. I’ll endeavour to answer them all together. I was very glad to hear that our people got on well together darling. I had not dreamed they would meet so soon though. I can see you now doing the introducing. I wish I had been there darling, but I’m afraid I would not have been much help to you. Do you remember the day when I took you home? I wish we were down there together now. I miss you so very much darling. I went to Assiniboia yesterday for the first time. It’s a nice, little town, but it isn’t very big. If you walked fast enough, you might miss it. Don and Nappy [sic] are still here, but one of the "Aberites" [sic] has been put off the course. We are still having nice weather out here and we are doing quite a lot of flying. I have done twenty hours by now including 5 hours solo. I’m waiting for my 20 hours test now. Wish me luck w’ont [sic] you darling? Our final ground examinations are in three weeks time. That means we w'ont [sic] be here move than eight weeks. Then I’ll have another 16 weeks course before I finish -that is if I pass this course. I’m getting to like this camp better by now. The work is getting more interesting every day. It is’nt [sic] a bad camp at all. The only trouble with it is that it’s so far from civilization. I’m afraid that’s all for the present darling. I’ll write again soon. Give my love to mam and grandad and to the girls in the office, but keep most of it for yourself darling. I still love so very much darling and ever will. Keep thinking of me darling. and be patient.
I’ll be back soon.

My Dearest Darling,
I received your cable yesterday darling. I was very glad to receive it. Even though it was only a few words, it made me feel much happier. Well darling nothing very exiting has happened since I wrote last. I’m still waiting for my 20 hour test. I expect I'll get in the next few days though. It is getting near my turn now. There is so many of us that it takes our flight commander a long time to test us all.
I went to town this afternoon and I bought you a birthday present. It should be on ils [sic] way by now. The shopkeeper is sending it on for me. Do not be surprised if you do not get a note with it. We are forbidden to enclose correspondence in parcels. So I’ll wish you a very happy birthday, hoping I shall be with you for your next. I hope you will like the present darling. [deleted] The [/deleted] It was the best I could get in a small town like this.
Well darling we are still as busy as ever. We have plenty to do. There’s only a couple of weeks before our final ground subjects examinations start. We should be out of here too, before eight weeks is up. There’s only one course after this that will take 16 weeks I think.
Well darling I hav’nt [sic] any more news this time.
Remember me to everybody. I still love you as much as ever darling. Hoping the day we shall be together again will come soon. So for the present darling keep on loving me, and think of me sometimes.

My Dearest Darling
I received two letters from you today darling, and another one a few days ago. I hope you are receiving mine allright [sic] now. Thanks for the newspaper cutting darling. I’ll have to keep that safe. Was’nt [sic] it
[page break]
funny that my pal’s engagement announcement should be in the same day? I bet a lot of people I know were shaken when they read that. I do’nt [sic] think they would have believed me if I told them myself. I can see me being teased to death when I come home. I w’ont [sic] mind though/. [sic] It was the only thing I wanted to happen on my leave. I’ll never regret it as long as I live. I love you so much darling, and ever will as long as I live. You need’nt [sic] worry about that darling, and I know you feel the same.
Well darling nothing very exiting has happened lately. We have been terribly busy lately, the ground exams start tomorrow. I had my last flyng test this week and I got through alright, much to my surprise, it will shake me more though if I get through the ground subjects. We have been doing some night flying lately too. We have to do five hours, including one hour solo. I have finished my solo. We do five cross-country flights here. I have done three, including a solo flight to Regina and back, a distance of about eighty miles from here. It was very interesting it took me an hour each way, and I stayed there for about half an hour. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
I’m getting to like the Camp a little better by now, but I’ll be out of here very soon again, in about a weeks time in fact. Then I’ll have to get used to the other place again. I hope it w’ont [sic] be so far from civilization as this one. Well darling I have completed nearly 1/3 of my course over here. It w’ont [sic] be very long will it? I’ll be back home again and near you before you know it. I’ll have so much to tell you and make up for when I do come, so be prepared. I still love you as much as ever darling
[page break]
and always thinking of you, and the fun we’ll have together when I come to you. Think of me sometimes darling and keep on loving me. Please do’nt [sic] worry about me. Please remember me to mam and grandad, give them my love, also everybody at the office, but keep most of it for yourself darling.
Yours forever

My Dearest Darling,
I received your letter dated 23rd September today darling. I was so very pleased to receive it, as I had not heard from you for quite a while. It makes such a lot of difference to hear from you
[page break]
darling, it makes me feel so lonely. I see you number your letters. I hav’nt [sic] done so on the last few letters so I’ll start again by numbering this one No 10.
You were saying in your letter that you went to the pics often well darling I’m afraid I’m worse than you are. I go about 3 or 4 times every week. I never go to the pics in town though. We get quite good pictures on the Camp. We get four different pictures every week. The last one I saw was "Stage Door Canteen". I thought it was quite a good picture. It certain brought back memories of you darling. I suppose you have seen it over there. Nearly all the pictures we get are quite old. I have seen some of them back home. I wish I was back home again darling to take you to the pics. I do MISS YOU SO very much.
I heard some very good news today darling, but it might be just rumour. They say they might shorten the course by a few weeks. I do hope it’s true. I’m afraid it w’ont [sic] make much difference though. The weather is getting worse every day, and we have to do a set number of hours flying. I hav’nt [sic] quite settled down in my new station yet, but I suppose I will in time. We’re not far from the border here. It’s only four miles away, but I do’nt [sic] think there’s anything worth seeing on the other side. I would like to go down there though before I finish here. I would like to see as much as I can while I’m over here. I’m afraid I w’ont [sic] have many photographs to bring back darling. We’re not allowed to have any cameras, and the films are very hard to get if you can get away with keeping your camera. I’m afraid that’s all for now darling. I’ll write
[page break]
again soon. So until then keep that chin up darling. Think of me sometimes and please do’nt [sic] worry about me. I’ll look after myself. I want to get back to you so much my darling. I love you as much as ever, and ever will darling. I’ll think of you always.

My Dearest Darling,
I received three of your letters today darling, which I was very pleased to receive. They evare sent on from Assiniboia. One [deleted] was [/deleted] written on
[page break]
the 1st October the others on the 28th of September and 5th of October. I was surprised to hear that you had been down to Cwmcoy [sic] darling. I hope you enjoyed yourself but I wish I had been down there with you. I spent the happiest days of my life down there with you. I hope it w’ont [sic] be too long before I take you down again. You were’nt [sic] chased by a nanny-goat [sic] this time were you? I do remember that night very well darling. Did’nt [sic] we have some fun that night? You did’nt [sic] wear my slippers out did you? I hope the time will soon come when I’ll be able to put them on again. The weather is getting worse hre [sic] every day, too darling. IT [sic] gets really cold at times. They say it is very unusual not to have any snow here before the end of October. They were snow bound here last year for weeks and they say it’s nothing unusual for the temperature to drop to 40° below zero. So you can imagine what we are in for. I miss the boys now, we had been together for so long it seems funny not to see them around. I suppose I shall see them again sometime though. It’s more than likely I shall meet them in Moncton on the way back. I still have a Taffy [sic] with me though. He is from Llandilo [sic]. We get on very well together. I shall tell Don about the piece of cake you’re going to give him when I write to him next. I hope it w’ont [sic] be too long to darling. I’m waiting for that day, it will be the happiest day of my life. I’m looking forward to the day I’ll be able to call you my wife. I hope you feel the same darling. I was sorry to hear your broadcast did’nt [sic] come off. I bet it was a shock for you. It can still picture you in your white blouse on that day of the performance I saw. What did you mean by saying that you would keep what I said in mind? I’m sorry I could’nt [sic] have been home to have some of your birthday cake darling. Was it nice? I hope you had a nice birthday darling. I wish I could have been there to make it a little happier for you.
Well darling we’re still working as hard as ever. Flying these big aircraft [underlined] is [/underlined] more difficult than the ones we have been used to, but we’re getting used to
[page break]
them now.
Well darling I’ll have to close. There’s a barack [sic] room inspection by the C.O. in the morning so I’ll have to get mobile and give a hand with the floor. I miss you as much as ever darling. I’m always thinking of you and hoping we’ll meet again soon. Think of me sometimes. Love me always darling. I’ll be back soon.
Yours ever
Your darling
Dave.

My Dearest Darling,
I received two letters from you today, one posted on the 16th and the other on the 19th of October, which was’nt [sic] bad at all. They are the
[page break]
quickest I’ve had so far I think. I wish they would not come together though, and that they would spread them out a little. Well darling you are getting a big girl are’nt [sic] you? Did you have a nice birthday? I hope you did. I wish I could have celebrated it with you too darling, I was thinking of you. Never mind I’ll be home for your next birthday. By the way have you received the present I sent you. I hear you are going down home again. I wish I was going with you darling. I’d give anything to be down there with you. I hope you’ll enjoy yourself. They like you very much darling. Blodwen says she likes you more every time she sees you. I was glad to hear your cold was better darling. You certainly are getting good. I hope you w’ont [sic] be going to bed so early when I come to see you. Are’nt [sic] you lucky, getting lovely weather. The weather out here has become very cold all of a sudden. We’ve had quite a lot of snow too. They hav’nt [sic] stopped the flying though, we land on the snow. The temperature last night was 12° below zero. So you can imagine how cold it is. I have seen a few pictures lately. - "Stage Door Canteen", "Lassie Come Home" "The Moon is Down" "Swing Shift Maisie" and "Salute to the Marines". We get very good films on the station, considering it’s so far from civilization. It’s strange not to see you by my side though darling. I’m longing for that day too darling. I hav’nt [sic] received the parcel you have sent me yet. I suppose I’ll get it this week though. You could’nt [sic] have sent me a better present darling. I spend most of my money on cigarettes. There’s a Wings Parade on here tomorrow, one of the courses have just passed out. It really shook me when I saw how many of them were going home. Only a few of them were lucky.
[page break]
I hope I shall be one of the lucky ones, when our time comes. I’m longing to see you darling. I could’nt [sic] stand it having to stay out here, after we finish the course. We’ve all reached such a state, that we would’nt [sic] care if we were thrown off the course tomorrow, so that we could return home. We can't stand this [indecipherable word] staring much longer. I do’nt [sic] sound very cheerful do I? IT's [sic] just for the simple reason that I miss you so much darling. I love you more than ever and am always thinking of you darling.
Yours forever
Your darling
Dave.

My Dearest Darling,
I received your letter dated the 22nd Oct yesterday. I’m sorry I hav’nt [sic] written for so long darling. I hav’nt [sic] been feeling very well lately. I’ve had a
[page break]
terrible cold. I have been in "DOCK" for a few days. I’m glad to say I’m much better, and have started flying again. I was glad to hear you had a lovely time [deleted] time [/deleted] down home. I wish I was down there with you. Never mind [sic] I shall be Taking [sic] you down again before very long, unless they keep me here after I finish my course. I doubt it very much though but I’m afraid there is a slight possibility. About half the last course went back to England or at least to Moncton to await transportation. By the way I’m always forgetting to tell you. My instructor at E.F.T.S was a Taffy [sic] he was from Montgomery. He knew Aberystwyth well. He was a young chap, only 21 and we got on well together. We had lots of fun up in the air. Did I tell you I met "Curly" and Don one week end? They told me that one of the boys of the old "c" flight in Aber [sic] has been killed out here. I think you know him. He was a very short chap. he danced a lot. His name was Bloxam. He went with Clements‘ the Plumbers [sic] daugher [sic] for a while, then he went with another girl I d’ont [sic] know her name. That’s the only serious accident I have heard of out here, funny it should happen to one of our crowd. Well darling I have finished more than half my course over here. It has’nt [sic] been so very long has it darling? I wish the time would pass quicker though. I miss you so very much darling. I would’nt [sic] mind if they sent me home tomorrow with the course half finished. I still think I would go mad if they kept me here as instructor. Some of the instructors on this station are lucky. Their wives and girl friends have come out here. The instructor I had when I came here first is on his honeymoon this week - lucky devil. They still keep us busy on the station we have plenty to occupy our time all day. We’ll be starting night flying again before
[page break]
very long. We have to do night cross country flights here too. I think I shall enjoy that.
Well darling I’ll have to close. I’ll write sooner next time. I still love you as much as ever. I wish you were here to prove it to you. You better watch out when I come back. Think of me sometimes darling. Keep on loving me and wait patiently. Wo’nt [sic] you darling?
Yours forever.
Your darling.

My. Dearest Darling,
I received one letter and one parcel from you today darling, which I was very pleased indeed to receive, especially the parcel. I appreciate it very much darling. I shall be able to save some money now. I was pleased to hear you had received some of my letters
[page break]
at last. I know what it is like to receive a letter, especially from someone you love who is far away. I have settled down at my new place by now. IT [sic] is’nt [sic] such a bad place after all, exept [sic] that we have to work exeptionally [sic] hard. I thought E.F.T.S. was bad enough but this station beats it for work. Thanks for the congratulations for passing darling. I still can’t see how I did so well. I’m afraid I w’ont do so well here. The course is really hard, especially the ground subjects. My instructor gave me some confidence yestarday, he said I was getting on quite well with my flying. He’ll probably tell me the opposite tomorrow though, because I have my good and bad days. I was in Winnipeg yesterday. Two of us took two passengers there and one back. I was navigating on the way there, and piloting on the way back. We called at on aerodrone called Carberry on the way back, where Nappy [sic] is. I looked everywhere for him, but I found out letter than he was on 48 hrs leave which made me very disappointed. IT [sic] was quite an experience for us, as it is quite a long distance away. We started at eight in the morning, and goT [sic] back at 5.30 PM. We had about 3 hours in Winnipeg. and nearly an hour in Carberry where we refueled. I heard from Don this week he wishes to be remembered to you. I went to the pictures last night and saw Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in Girl Crazy. You‘ve probably seen it over there. I'm very curious as to what the present you‘re sending me is. You‘ll have me guessing now for a few weeks until it arrives. I shall keep it always darling whatever it is. By the way have you received my present yet? Well darling I‘ll have to close now darling. I shall write again soon. I do miss you ever so much darling. I'm always thinking of you and love you more than ever darling. Do you now [sic] that old saying "Absence makes the heart
[page break]
grow fonder" well I think it’s quite true. In my case anyway. Think of me sometimes darling – as if you never did. Hoping the day will soon come when we shall be together again and always.
That’s all for now.
Your darling husband (to be)
Dave.

My Dearest Darling,
I received another letter from you yesterday but It was written on Oct 26. I have received a couple of letters from you written later though. I'm waiting patienlly [sic] for the parcel. You’ve had me guessing for the last week or so. Well darling I'm still working as hard as ever, we‘re having our mid- term exams this week, and we had our final aircraft recognition yesterday. I did fairly well I think, it's one of my best subjects. The other examinations are in five weeks time. We had some good news todays we're having five days leave Christmas. I don't know where I‘ll go yet. Taffy is staying in Estevan, he has been invited to stay somewhere in town. He‘s well organised here. Some of the boys are going to Winnipeg I think I‘ll go with them, I'd like to go to some big town and see some sights, and see some latest films. I have written to Don asking him if he has any leave Christmas or not. If he has we‘ll try and go to the same place. I have managed to get some films at last. They‘re very scarce out here too. I'll send some photographs as soon as I can. I have some already but I'm afraid I can not send them, you'll find out why when I came back. Well darling how are things in Aber? [sic] Are you still working as hard as ever? I have seen some good films lately, Charles Laughton in "Man from down Under" Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland in "Girl Crazy" and "For Ever and a Day" have you seen any of them. I wish you were here so that I could take you. It seems strange somehow not to see
[page break]
you by my side. I miss you terribly darling. I could not forget you for a moment however hard I tried. I love you as much as ever darling, and looking forward very much to the day we'll meet again, and make up for all this. Keep loving me darling and wait patiently w’ont [sic] you? There’s only nine weeks before finals darling. Your darling husband (to be)

My Dearest Darling
I received 3 letters from you today darling one written on the 27th of October and the others on 11th and 12th of November. One of the letters included the surprise darling. You could’nt [sic] have sent me a better surprise. I shall always keep it darling. I'm afraid [missing] w’ont [sic] last long though. I shall be looking at it so [missing] I still have the one you
[page break]
gave me before I went away, but it is’nt [sic] is such a good condition. It is a lovely photograph of you darling. I've placed it on top of my locker. all the boys have been admiring it and saying what a lucky guy I am. I must have one taken too, but I think I'll wait and see if I can get some feathers on my breast first. I might have [deleted] on [/deleted] taken on my Christmas leave though, that is if I go away. I do'nt [sic] think there is a photographer in this town. Well I'm still working as hard as ever darling. They do'nt [sic] give us much time off. It will be nice to get some leave Christmas. I shall be able to catch up with my sleeping hours. I shall be able to stay in bed all day too I hope. I wish you could be here to spend it with me - Now do’nt [sic] get me wrong! We would have so much fun just like we used to. Never mind we might be spending a couple of weeks together sooner than we think. I'm looking forward to it so very much darling. I'm glad you liked your present darling. I [indecipherable word] started a collection of some more things for you darling. I shall be sending you a parcel before long. I shall buy a lot of things for you before I came back - after I finish the course. They keep back some of my money every week, as I have bought a 50 dollar war bond, and I pay for it by weekly installments. They held a victory week in the R.A.F. when I was in Assiniboia, I shall just finish paying for it when I finish the course. It was one way of saving money. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself down home. I wish I could have been there with you. I enjoyed myself very much those few days we were down there together. I'm sure I w'ont [sic] regret it as long as I live - I know I w'ont. [sic] I love you so very much darling - more than anything in the world in fact. I'm looking forward to the day I shall be taking you down there as Mrs Davies. Yes it does sound nice darling. I am looking forward to seeing you in white again,- a lot of white [deleted] aq [/deleted] too I hope. I hope this war will end soon, or I’ll have to change my mind and see you in white sooner than either of us expected. It is the only thing I'm living and hoping for darling I want you all for myself. I hope you feel the same as I do. I wish I could be back in Aber [sic] to prove it to you darling. You better be prepared for my return. I shall be able to see you quite often when I came back. I'll get more
[page break]
leave than I used to get before. I'll get more 48’s anyway. Well darling I'll have to close. Think of me sometimes. I'm always thinking of you darling. Thanks again for the photograph. I’ll treasure it always.

My Dearest Darling,
Received a letter from you today dated 20th of Nov. I hope you have received some of mine by now. Your letters arrive oftener [sic] now. I get one or two every week - thanks to you darling. It's still very cold out here, and we've had some more snow. We hav'nt [sic] seen any rain here though, for over two months. I'm still very busy darling, and I expect I'll be busier as the time goes on. It’s only a month before final ground examinations. A month to the day in fact. I went to the pics [sic] last night at the camp to see Betty Grable in “Coney Island” in technicolour. It was the best picture I have seen for ages and “Victory through Air Power”. By the way one of the boys was in Winnipeg this week and met Nappy [sic] there. He’s off the course for some reason, he was on 14 days leave before reporting to an Air Gunners’ school somewhere. I'm waiting to hear from him to know what happened. Joe Cooper is also off the course. Do you remember him? I think you do, they called him “Slim”. There’s only three of us left [deleted] indecipherable word [/deleted] now that I Know of. - Don. Curly. and [indecipherable word]. I better not say too much - I might be next. I’m glad to say though I passed all the mid term exams. If I can get through the next few weeks and the final ground exams I mange [sic] it. By the way darling I'm always forgetting to tell you Steve and Ginger are here too. They’re in the course ahead of us. Steve wishes to be remebered to you, hoping he can visit Aber [sic] soon. I was sorry to hear [indecipherable word] had been so ill. I hope she’s much better by now. It seems funny to hear of [indecipherable word] being ill. Well darling there’s only 8 weeks to go in this dump, after which I hope to come home after a couple of weeks in Moncton. But I’m warning you darling. There is a possibility that they may keep me here as instructor staff pilot or for a Reconnaissance course. Not many of the last course went home. I'm warning you darling so that you w’ont [sic] be so disappointed
[page break]
when the time comes.
That’s all the news for now darling hoping to hear from you soon. I still love you as much as ever, and am always thinking of you. I miss you more than anything in the world darling. I shall be back as soon as I can. How I’m longing to see you darling. I'm getting more impatient every day.
Yours for ever darling
Dave

My Dearest Darling.
Received two letters from you today. one dated 4th Dec and the other the 10th. Your letters arrive very often now darling. and I suppose they’ll arrive often again after this New Year's rush. I wish I had more time to write a little oftener [sic] to you darling, but you know how much I love you
[page break]
and always will. I wish I was back there again to tell you personally. I'm looking forward so much for that day darling. It w’ont [sic] be long now though it's only five more weeks to the end of the course. We take our final ground subjects a week next Wednesday. I’ll have more time then, and I shall be able to catch up with my sleeping hours too. We're all looking forward to the end of the course, we’re throughly cheesed with this course. The R.A.F chaps like cracking a joke about this place especially when there’s some Canadians around. They say this place [missing] offered back to the Indians some time ago, but [missing] it. By the way there are some Indians living [missing] You ought to see them. I [deleted] ‘ve [/deleted] saw two pictures while [missing] in Winnipeg - Betty Grable in “Sweet Rosy O’Grady” and [missing] and Hardy in “Dancing Masters”. Two quite good pictures. How is the “Elijah” coming on darling. I hope I'll be back in time to hear it. I hav’nt [sic] heard some good singing for ages. By the way are you wearing white this time? I'm looking forward to seeing the house too. I can imagine mam [sic] in the middle of it all. I wish I had a home of my own to come back to, and you waiting for me on the doorstep. Would’nt [sic] it be lovely darling. Do'nt [sic] worry it will happen one day. I’ll certainly have a garden. I love that kind of work. I used to do a little gardening at home. Well darling we’re still very busy here - plenty of night flying to do. I do’nt [sic] dislike it all though, tiring as it is. If I ever get through this course, and somebody tells me that we hav’nt [sic] earned our wings. I’ll soon make him change his mind.
Well darling this is all for the present, I'll write again soon. Keep that chin up, it w’ont [sic] be long now. Think of me sometimes - as if you never did. I'm always thinking of you too darling. I better watch
[page break]
out when I come back if you're going to make all there kisses real. You better be prepared to. we have so much to make up for all this.
I love you as much as ever darling, and miss you ever so much.
Please remember me to mam [sic] and dadan [sic] also to Eunice. Tell them I hope to see them all before very long.
Yours forever
Your darling husband (to be)

My Dearest Darling
Well darling I made it. Did you notice any change in the first line of my address? We had our wings parade this afternoon, much to our relief. I’ve just sent you a cable. I hope you received it.
[page break]
I had four letters from you today, the first batch I have received for over a fortnight. Everyone has been complaining about the mail lately. I hope you are receiving mine alright. We’re all getting ready for our graduation party now, it starts at eight. I think we’ll have a good time, they usually do at these parties. I’ve been busy all afternoon sewing my wings and stripes on. I wish you were here to sew them on for me, I’d never make a tailor. Well darling I suppose I should have told you this first. I'm coming home soon, we’re being posted to Moncton from here, we’re due to arrive there on the 15th February. Those of us who have been posted to Moncton just with joy when they told us. It was a better occassion [sic] for us than it was to have our wings. That's all you can hear from the boys now is “Roll on the Boat”. Darling I'm longing so much to see you. I miss you terribly. [missing] thinking of you, and love you more than [missing] they sha’nt [sic] keep us long in Moncton, [missing] us more than 5 days to come over, [missing] have some leave with you darling. [missing] nice. You better prepare yourself for there [missing] darling. I suppose I should too. I should'nt [sic] send any more letters after you receive this one darling. I should’nt [sic] think they would send them across a second time. I'll send you an address to write to as soon as I can. Well I’ll have to close now and get ready for this party of our. Please do’nt [sic] worry about those sherries you had darling I'm afraid I sha’nt [sic] stop at two tonight. Give my love to all the folks and tell them I hope to see them all soon.
[page break]
Until I see you darling remember I still love you and ever will. Think of me sometimes and love me always.
Your darling (husband to be)
Dave.

Dearly Beloved.
I hav’nt [sic] heard from you for quite a while darling, but, I expect I'll hear.
[page break]
before very long. I wrote you an ordinary letter yesterday, so this one might reach you before that one does. I have explained about the address in that one. Well darling I'm afraid I hav’nt [sic] very good news for you. There’s no sign of us [deleted] bef [/deleted] being posted from here. We might be here over a month as far as I can see. They’re sending chaps on leave from here now. I think I told you in a previous letter not to write to me over here again, I think you can disregard that. I could’nt [sic] stay here very long without hearing from you darling, as it is the only link between us. I mean communication of course. There’s another link between us though that will never break darling you know what that is. We do nothing here all day, exept [sic] parade twice a day. I just sit on my bed all day thinking of you darling. the lovely times we used to spend together, and the lovely times we’ll spent together again, when I come back to you. It shan’t [sic] be too long now. I wish this war would finish soon though, so that we can be together always darling. That’s all I'm looking forward to right now. I wish you could be near me now darling. I feel so lonely without you. I miss you terribly. I have met two of my school mates out here. I introduced you to one of them in Ludlow outside the camp
[page break]
Remember? Well darling I'll have to close now I'll write again soon. Keep on waiting patiently wo’nt [sic] you darling? Think of me sometimes and love me always. Remember me to mam and daden [sic] and all the other folks
Your darling husband (to be)

Dearly Beloved.
Received the cable and a letter from you today darling. The letter was posted on the 28th of Jan.
IT [sic] was the first I have received since I arrived here
[page break]
They have just started to send them on from Estevan. I suppose I’ll get a lot more now before very long. I also received one from home. Well darling nothing very exciting has happened here since I wrote you last. I have some more of the boys I used to know back in England, and we have been relating to each other our various experiences out here. I don't think you know any of them exept [sic] one perhaps. His name is Bradbury not the fair short one, but the other one. We’ve had no more information about posting darling but I still think we shall be here for quite a while unfortunately. They [missing] anything, but we have a fairly good [missing] I'm wrong about it though. Nothing would [missing] than to get posted from here soon and [missing] again darling. It's still terribly cold here, [missing] manage to survive it, exept [sic] for a few frost bites. I have seen a lot of Indians out here, but they’re not dressed up as we see them in the films, nowadays, but they still live in tents and huts.
I was glad to hear the “Elijah” was coming on so well. I hope I'll be back in time to hear it darling. I'm looking forward to see you in white again, but you wait until you're all dressed up in white that’ will be the day darling. Then we can have that home of our own with a garden. W’ont [sic] it be nice darling. I did receive the letter from Eunice I’ll have to answer it soon too.
Well darling I'm afraid that's all for now. Keep than chin up. and love me always. I'm always thinking of you darling.
All my love darling.

My Dearest Darling.
Well darling I'm still in the same old place, and no news whatever of postings. I think they might send us on leave the end of this week. - a week's leave I think. So you can see I
[page break]
Sha’nt [sic] be posted for quite some time yet. We’ve had organised classes for the last few days, which makes it a lot worse darling, but we get them in the morning or afternoon only, and the rest of the day we’re free to do what we like. The weather has been a lot milder in the last few days, but we've had some more snow again. The thaw has started too, and everything is in a horrible mess [missing] the roads. I hav’nt [sic] met any more [missing] but I expect I shall in the next [missing] Don should be here in a fortnight. [missing] rather unlucky. he started S.E.T.S. a [missing] and the course has been extended since we finished it. I hav’nt [sic] decided yet where to go on my leave. I think Montreal is the easiest place to get to. It's only a day’s journey, and it’s the nearest big town from here. We might try to get down to the States for a few days, the only thing is, there’s such a loT [sic] of trouble to exchange money and all that, and it's a bit expensive too. It is'nt [sic] so much the distance. Well darling I have no idea when I'll be able to see you. I hope it w’ont [sic] be too long. I’m looking so much to see you, I miss you now more than ever, since we hav’nt [sic] much [deleted] else [/deleted] to do here. The amount of work we did in S.F.T.S. made us forget about home a little. but not completely by all means darling. You do’nt [sic] happen to know when Charlie finished his course darling? I was just thinking he might be still
[page break]
here. I wish I could meet him.
I'm afraid that's all for now darling. I'll write again soon. I hav’nt [sic] heard from you for quite a while, but I expect I’ll have one soon. I love you as much as ever darling. Keep smiling it might not be long after all.
I'm always thinking of you darling.

congratulations darling I’m glad you feel happy about it I'm glad too, it's all over. The course was terrible the last few weeks, but it was all worth it I guess. If anybody tells me that we do’nt [sic] earn our wings, he w’ont [sic] have the chance to say it again. Well darling I'm afraid there’s still no news of being posted. I waited until today because I thought I might be able to tell you something definite, but no luck. It might come unexpected one day though, in any case they wo’nt [sic] give us much notice. I do’nt [sic] know how long I shall be over there before I get some leave, not very long I hope. I hear too that they get quite long leaves after coming arcross.[sic] Wo’nt [sic] it be nice darling to spend a few weeks together again? I'm looking forward to it so very much. I miss you so very much darling. I’m longing to see you more than ever darling. I wish I could be with you right now instead of sitting around doing nothing. I'm in the Y.M.CA [sic] at the moment with my pal. we're both writing to the ones we love. we often talk to each other about our sweethearts back home, he tells me all about his girl. and I tell him all about you darling. Well I'm afraid I hav’nt [sic] much news to tell you darling. I can only tell you how much I love you, and there is'nt [sic] much use in that, because you know I love you more than anything in the world darling.

I shall love you always whatever happens. So keep waiting patiently for me darling. It shant [sic] be too long. Keep that chin up and think of me always. Remember me to mam and daden [sic] hoping you are all in the best of health.
Your darling husband (to be)
Dave
