Pilot's flying log book for Robert 'Bob' Victor Keeling covering the period 15 June 1939 to 30 June 1943. Details his training and operational duties. Bob flew 27 night operations, 15 as second pilot to Pilot Officer Deacon, Sergeant Prior and Squadron Leader Hollrick and 12 as pilot with 51 Squadron. Operations, all flown in Whitley aircraft, were to Antwerp, Berlin, Bordeaux, Boulogne, Bremen, Brest, Chemnitz, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Kiel, Leipzig, Le Havre, Leona, Lorient, Magdeburg, Mannheim, Pilsner, St. Naazare and Turin. The log book continues with details of Bob's time as a flying instructor with the School of Navigation, 7 Squadron and Royal Aircraft Establishment.

P R Taylor’s Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, from 26 April 1943 to 25 October 1945, detailing training and operations as a Navigator (occasionally Bomb Aimer) in the Mediterranean area. Based at: Oudtshoorn (No. 45 Air School), George (No. 61 Air School), RAF Ein Shemer (No. 78 Operational Training Unit), Berka 3, Kalamaki, Grottaglie, Foggia and Luqa (all with No. 38 Squadron). Aircraft flown: Anson, Oxford, Wellington XIII, Wellington XIV, Warwick. Records 30 sorties, including bombing, anti-submarine patrols, armed/offensive reconnaissance, anti-shipping strikes, mine laying, flare illumination, convoy escorts, leaflet dropping and supply drops. Named targets/areas include: Portolargo (Leros Island), Karlovasi Harbour (Samos), Chalcis, Iraklion aerodrome (Crete), Aegean Sea, and Kalamaki. His pilot on operations with 38 Squadron was F/O Webster. On 17 February 1945 he notes “President Roosevelt aboard Cruiser Quincey”.

Includes bombing and photographic reconnaissance operations with 88 Squadron as part of the RAF Advanced Air Striking Force (AASF) in France 1939-1940, and later Bomber Command operations with 97 Squadron. Based at RAF North Coates Fitties (No. 10 Air Observers Course), RAF Feltwell (214(B) Squadron), RAF Boscombe Down (88(B) Squadron), RAF Acklington (No. 7 Armament Training School), RAF Evanton (No.8 Armament Training School). M A Niman’s RAF observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book
M A Niman’s RAF Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, from 6th August 1941 to 2nd May 1945, detailing operations and instructional duties in the UK, Middle East and East Africa as a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner and “Special Operator”, including bomber transport, anti-submarine patrols and radio/radar counter-measures. The logbook starts with a note certifying flying hours (36 ‘trips’) contained in a logbook which was lost on the 16th July 1941 when a Bombay aircraft crashed into the sea at Gibraltar. It ends with a list of 31 ops flown with 10 Squadron obtained in 2002 from historical records, and a crew list. He was stationed at RAF Kemble (Overseas Aircraft Delivery Flight), RAF Heliopolis (No. 216 Bomber Transport Squadron), Wadi Gazouza/ Nanyuki (72 OTU), Kipevu, Mombasa (259 and 209 Squadrons), RAF Halfpenny Green (also known as RAF Bobbington) (No. 3 (O) AFU) and RAF Foulsham (192 Squadron). Aircraft in which flown: Bombay, Blenheim, Anson, Catalina, Short C-Class, Lodestar, Halifax and Whitley. Records a total of 14 night operations with 192 Squadron: some have no targets named, and some names are incorrectly spelled. These have been corrected where necessary by reference to the squadron ORB. Targets in Germany are: Augsburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven, Flensburg, Hamburg, Harburg, Kiel, Ladbergen, Langendreer, Nuremberg, Plauen and Stade. Based at RAF Oudtshoorn (45 Air School), Air Force Station Port Alfred (43 Air School), RAF Cottesmore and RAF Saltby (14 OTU), RAF Wigsley (1654 conversion Unit) and RAF Scampton and RAF East Kirkby (57 Squadron). Aircraft in which flown: Anson, Oxford, Wellington Ic, Manchester, Lancaster. Records a total of five night operations. The final entry notes: “Shot down when returned over base by JU88. Engineer and self only survivors. Baled out”. Targets in Germany, are: Berlin, Hanover, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach (early return) and Nurnberg. His pilot on operations was Pilot Officer Duff. Also records some private flights in 1947 and 1948.

Sergeant Bronisław Soltysiak’s RAF Pilot’s Flying Log Book from 4 September 1940 to 13 August 1942, detailing his training and operations as a pilot. He was stationed at RAF Carlisle (No. 15 Elementary Flying Training School), RAF Stormy Down (No. 7 Bombing & Gunnery School), RAF Bramcote (No. 18 Operational Training Unit) and RAF Lindholme (305 Polish Squadron). Aircraft in which flown: Magister, Battle, Wellington. Records a total of 21 night operations. Targets in France, Germany and Netherlands are: Boulogne, Bremen, Brest, Cherbourg, Cologne, Duisburg, Dunkirk, Emden, Essen, Hamburg, Kiel, Mannheim, Rotterdam and Wilhelmshaven. His pilots on his first ‘second dickie’ operations were Sergeant Engel, Flying Officer Sznidel and Sergeant Slotgsiak.

EW Cropper's Log Books
Two flying log books for navigators, air bombers, air gunners and flight engineers for E.W. Cropper. Between them they cover the period 17 May 1943 to 6 October 1950. There is much overlap between them and an original log book was destroyed by fire.
<p>Log book One.<br /><br />E W Cropper’s RAF Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book from February 1944 to 6th October 1950, recording training, operations, instructional and staff duties as a navigator. Aircraft in which flown: Stirling, Lancaster III, Lancaster VII (FE), Halifax II and V, Wellington XIII, Oxford, Anson, Proctor, Mosquito B35, Lincoln 2B. Based at: RAF Jurby (No. 5 Air Observer School), RAF Wratting Common (1651 Conversion Unit), RAF Hemswell (1 Lancaster Finishing School), RAF Elsham Wolds (103 Squadron), RAF Blyton (1662 Heavy Conversion Unit), RAF Shawbury (Empire Central Navigation School/Empire Air Navigation School), RAF Lindholme (1656 Heavy Conversion Unit), RAF Oakington and RAF Mepal (7 Squadron), RAF High Wycombe and RAF Booker (Bomber Command Communications Flight), RAF Waddington (57 Squadron) and RAF Scampton (Bomber Command Instrument Rating and Examining Flight).</p>

Targets in France, Germany, Netherlands and Norway are: Alencon, Amiens, Arnsburg, Augsburg, Berlin, Bielfeld, Bochum, Bremen, Chateau Dun, Colline Beaumont, Dortmund Ems Canal, Dusseldorf, Essen, Farge, Fouillard, Frankfurt-Main, Hamburg, Hanover, Heligoland, Herquelingue, Ijmuiden, Kassel, Leipzig, Leverkusen, Lille, Ludwigshafen, Mannheim, Mont Fleury, Morsalines, Nienburg, Orleans, Oslo Fiord (German cruisers “Emden” and “Koln”), Politz, Poortershafen, Rotterdam, Stuttgart, Trappes and Urft Dam. His pilots on operations were Squadron Leader Johnson and Squadron Leader Calder. Also includes notes of dates of promotion and award of DFC, lists of crews and a picture of a Halifax Mk III. Some detailed notes on ops with 617 Squadron.
