REICH BLITZED AGAIN TO-DAY
R.A.F. Bomber Command in the night sent out 1,250 bombers with Dessau, one of the largest industrial towns in Central Germany and a German base feeding the Eastern Front, as the main target. The town was left blazing from end to end. Two oil refineries at [underlined] Harburg, [/underlined] near Hamburg – the biggest in Germany – and another at Heide (Schleswig-Holstein) were hit, and Berlin got its 16th night raid in succession.
Fourteen German planes were shot down in air battles, and from all operations, including attacks on shipping off Norway, 39 R.A.F. bombers are missing.
Then to-day Achtungs reported a 220-mile bomber stream over Germany from the West and other bombers over Austria, presumably from Italy bases.
U.S. heavies were officially reported over Germany.
