[underlined] INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOMBING [/underlined]
[underlined] Before take of [sic], set:- [/underlined]
(i). Sea level pressure (at target).
ii). Target height.
.ii). Bomb T.V.
[underlined] Set wind speed and direction [/underlined]
(i) The wind speed should be reduced to "indicated" by subtracting 1 1/2 percent per 1000ft of height.
ii) Wind direction should be set true or magnetic according to whether the D.R. compass is set to read true or magnetic.
[underlined] Where approaching the target area:- [/underlined]
(i) Check that the george control is in the [underlined] out [/underlined] position. Otherwise there will be no suction to the computor [sic].
ii) Turn on the air supply.
.ii). Switch on the Graticule.
Take care not to press on any part of the sighting head, which is flexility wounded and can easily be moved enough to upset the course.
Give Pilot necessary instructions to bring the target down the drift line of the graticule, and release the bombs when the target reaches the cross line.
[underlined] Note. [/underlined]
(i) The collinator bracket handle can be used to move the graticule forward to pick up a distant target. As the sighting line is also rotated by the handle, however, it is most important that the handle is left free to take up its own position before deciding the moment of release.
(ii) Evasive action may be taken almost up to the point of release. Steady flight [bracket] level or glide [/bracket] for 8 or 10 seconds prior to the release of bombs is ample.
If necessary the bombs can be released in a turn, but the turn must be properly banked, otherwise considerable errors will be cause by side slip.
