Navigator’s, air bomber’s and air gunner’s flying log book for W D Y Caruthers, air gunner, covering the period from 1 May 1944 to 28 May 1945. Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at 10 Air Gunnery School RAF Walney (aka RAF Barrow in Furness), 29 Operational Training Unit RAF Bitteswell and RAF Bruntingthorpe, 1661 Conversion Unit RAF Winthorpe, 5 Lancaster Finishing School RAF Syerston, 106 Squadron RAF Metheringham and 207 Squadron RAF Spilsby. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Wellington, Stirling and Lancaster. He flew a total of 17 operations, 7 night operations with 106 squadron and 3 daylight and 7 night operations with 207 squadron. Targets were Karlsruhe, Ladbergen, Neubrandenburg, Dresden, Rositz, Bohlen, Gravenhorst, Harburg, Essen, Lutzkendorf, Hamburg, Wesel, Nordhausen, Molbis, Leipzig and Berchtesgaden. He also flew 3 operation Exodus to Brussels and Lille. His pilot on operations was Flying Officer King.
