Description

A head and shoulder portrait of Richard with this air gunner's brevet next to the crest of 61 Squadron followed by operations records and reports.

Richard took part in 22 operations to Berlin, Frankfurt, Hagen, Hannover, Kassel, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich and Stuttgart with pilot, Flight Lieutenant C H Harvey in Lancaster aircraft. Their aircraft failed to return following a crash in which only air gunner Flying Officer Donald Thomas survived.

There is a Christmas card with a Lancaster, a report of the crash, details of the fatalities and a view of a planted field with a group of buildings at the base of a mine spoil tip.
