He starts with a brief service history, including training and a move after 40 Squadron, to fill vacancy on 9 Squadron Wellington. He names his pilots and squadron pathfinder roll. He failed to return from 30th operation on first 1000 bomber operation and was made prisoner of war after crash landing in Belgium. He was involved in great escape from Stalag Luft 3. He describes squadron task as pathfinders during first 1000 bomber operation May 30/31 1942.He continues with an account of engine failure on return from previously mentioned operation and pilot's incapacitation, then eventual crash with loss of some crew. He then provides commentary on several incidents of being attacked by fighters on three occasions. The next involved him flying the aircraft, while both pilots were in the rear of the aircraft. He then provides an account of being shot at by a flak-ship while mine laying. The last involved him reporting to the MO that three crew, including the pilot, were suffering from exhaustion and unfit to fly. They were sent on leave and their CO was removed from command. He mentioned his involvement in the great escape from Stalag Luft 3. He recalls names of his crew and provides short answers to questions, including how he was captured and reports on injuries to other surviving crew.
