Extracts from Guy Sharp’s Pilots Flying Log Book from 16th December 1940 until 31st July 1942. Initial training at 15 Elementary Flying Training School, 14 Service Flying Training School and then 20 Operational Training Unit. Operational postings to 9, 214 and 70 Squadrons. Further postings to 23 and 29 Operational Training Units.
Served at RAF Rochester, RAF Cranfield, RAF Lossiemouth, RAF Honington, RAF Kabrit, RAF Stradishall, RAF Pershore, RAF Polebrook, RAF West Raynham, RAF North Luffenham, RAF Castle Coombe, RAF Upper Heyford.
Aircraft flown were Wellington, Anson.
With 9 Squadron he undertook 14 night bombing operations. His targets were Mannheim, Gelsenkirchen, Bordeaux, Bremen, Wilhelmshaven, Boulogne, Cologne, Berlin. His pilots were Pilot Officer Turtle, Pilot Officer Macintosh, Sergeant Mew and Sergeant Mills.
In 70 Squadron 12 night bombing and 1 supplies operations were carried out to Benghazi, Candia, Derna, Berka, Corinth Canal. Sergeant Mills was his pilot throughout.
He also flew 2 night bombing operation with 29 Operational Training Unit to Bremen and Dusseldorf. His pilot was Sergeant Armstrong.
