Observer’s and air gunner’s flying log book for J K Leigh, wireless operator/air gunner, covering the period from 25 April 1939 to 27 December 1941. Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF Volunteer Reserve RAF Stapleford Abbots, 4 Air Observer School RAF West Freugh, 601 Squadron Auxiliary Air Force RAF Biggin Hill and RAF Tangmere, 16 Operational Training Unit RAF Upper Heyford, 1 Electrical & Wireless School RAF Cranwell, 12 Operational Training Unit RAF Benson and RAF Penrhos, 150 Squadron RAF Newton and RAF Snaith, 10 Signals Recruit Centre Blackpool, 2 Electrical & Wireless School RAF Yatesbury, 11 Operational Training Unit RAF Bassingbourn. Aircraft flown in were Hart, Hind, Demon, Heyford, Blenheim, Valentia, Rapide, Battle, Dominie, Wellington and Proctor. He flew a total of 27 operations with 150 Squadron.1 Daylight, 26 night. Targets were Boulogne, Calais, Bielefeld, Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Brest, Mönchengladbach, Hannover, Mannheim, Berlin, Kiel, Karlsruhe, Le Havre, Bremen, Dusseldorf and Cherbourg. His pilots on operations were Sergeant Walkinshaw, Sergeant Skrender, Pilot Officer Simpson, Sergeant Hughes, Flight Lieutenant Griffiths, Sergeant Birkes, Squadron Leader Olney, Sergeant Dick and Sergeant Bradshaw.
