Alan Gwilliam’s Pilot’s Flying Log Book from 29th September 1943 until 25th July 1953. Continued posting with 21 Service Flying Training School as an instructor. Posted to 76 Operational Training Unit in Palestine during March 1944 and then to No. 3 Refresher Flying Unit in India and then 1672 Mosquito Conversion Unit. Operational posting to 47 Squadron in March 1945.
September 1945 saw a return to the United Kingdom and posting to 13 Operational Training Unit.
During 1952 posted to No. 8 Reserve Flying School. Attended No. 19 Reserve Flying School in July 1953.
Served at RAF Kumalo, RAF Aqir, RAF Poona, RAF Yelahanka, RAF Kumbhirgram, RAF Kinmagon, RAF Hmawbi, RAF Croft, RAF Woodley, RAF Woodvale.
Aircraft flown were Oxford, Wellington, Short C Flying Boat, Sunderland, Mosquito, B-24 Liberator, C-47 Dakota, Beaufighter, Tiger Moth, Chipmunk, Anson.
With 47 Squadron he carried out 38 Rhubarb day operations as a pilot, bombing and strafing a range of targets in Burma including Heho, Kalaw, Kyaukpadaung, Pwintbyu, Tabyegyi, Loi-kaw, Sibintha, Nammaket, Pasaung, Yinmadon, Rangoon, Hmawbi, Kadit, Prombe, Mokpalin, Lagunbyo, Duyinzeik, Aungban, Thanbyuzat, Toungoo, Kyibin, Moulmein, Kyaikto, Natyegon, Kado, Kinmun, Hnipadaw, Kamasaing, Kamarmaung, Bilin, Natkyi, Nyaungdon, Tiyo-Bawkata.
Also carried out tactical reconnaissance.
