Description

Leslie gives account of his last operation to Leipzig on 19/20 February 1944. He commences with brief description of his join up and training. He mentions operations to Kassel and Berlin, completing 7 operations completed before Leipzig. He rists crew for Leipzig operation and gives a detailed description of operation and being shot down by Bf 110G flown by Oblt Heinz Ferger. Only two of the crew were able to bale out, the other five were killed. He describes parachute descent, capture and subsequent activities, including being under an allied air raid at a Luftwaffe base.He mentions interrogation and describes his train journey to prisoner of war camp. He goes on to describe activities at Stalag Luft VI at Heydekrug and moves as Russians approached. Final liberation by the British from Stalag XI-B at Fallingbostel and return home.
