Aubrey Coles’ Pilot’s Flying Log Book from 28th September 1942 until 19th December 1945. Initial training at No. 33 Elementary Flying Training School followed by No. 38 Service Flying training School, No. 14(Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit, 20 Operational Training Unit, and 1652 Conversion Unit. Operational posting to 158 Squadron in May 1944.
Posted to 10 Operational Training Unit after completing first tour of operations. Trained as an instructor at Bomber Command Instructors School from March 1945, returning to 10 Operational Training Unit. Final posting to 1381 Transport Conversion Unit.
Served at RCAF Caron, RCAF Estevan, RAF Lossiemouth, RAF Lissett, RAF Abingdon.
He flew one night operation with 1652 Heavy Conversion Unit when his pilot was Flight Lieutenant Ainsley. The target was Frankfurt.
With 158 Squadron he flew 38 operations (18 day and 20 night) The targets were Lens, Hasselt, Boulogne, Bourg Leopold, Amiens, Evrecy, Sterkrade, Oisemont, Rossignol, Mimoyecques, Wizernes, Villers Bocage, Ferme du Forestal, Les Landes Vieilles et Neuves, Caen, Ardouval, Stuttgart, Foret de Nieppe, Chapelle Notre Dame, L’Hey, Dijon, Brunswick, Eindhoven, Kiel, Watten, La Pourchinte, Neuss, Calais, Cap Gris Nez, Bottrop, Kleve, Duisburg, Wilhelmshaven, Hanover.
Does include a few notes of flights as a passenger at the end.
It is not a complete copy of his log book only showing left hand pages and missing some.
