Jack Bromfield’s Flying Log Book as a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner from 23rd September 1943 until 5th January 1945 when he was reported as missing. Training started at No. 2 Radio School and No. 8 Gunnery School. Further training followed at No. 7 Advanced Flying Unit, 21 Operational Training Unit and 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit. Posted to 158 Squadron for operations in November 1944.

Served at RAF Yatesbury, RAF Evanton, RAF Bishops Court, RAF Moreton-in-Marsh, RAF Topcliffe, RAF Lissett.

Aircraft flown were Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington III, Wellington V, Wellington X, Halifax II, Halifax V,

He flew 10 operations ( 4 day and 6 night) with 158 Squadron. Targets were Jülich, Munster, Sterkrade, Essen Mulhiem Airfield, Opladen, Koblenz, Cologne, Dortmund, Ludwigshafen, Hannover.

His pilot was Flying Officer Robertson.
