Description

Douglas Box’s Flying Log Book as an Air Gunner from 4th May to 31st August 1943. Trained at No. 8 Air Gunnery School, 11 Operational Training Unit, 1483 Gunnery Flight, and 1665 Conversion Unit. Posted to 75 (NZ) Squadron for operations.

Reported as missing in action on 31st August 1943. Made a prisoner of war.

Served at RAF Evanton, RAF Oakley, RAF Westcott, RAF Newmarket, RAF Woolfox Lodge, RAF Mepal. Aircraft flown were Botha, Wellington, Stirling.

Flew 5 night operation with 75 Squadron carrying out minelaying and bombing. His targets were minelaying off the Friesian Islands and Bordeaux, bombing Nuremberg, Mönchengladbach and Berlin. His pilot was Flight Sergeant Henley. He was shot down on the last operation over Germany.
